Question about Vampire Collection
On Oct. 14th Carlton video w/release Vampire Collection (R2)containing 3 Hammer movies on dvd(Countess Dracula,Twins of Evil and Vampire Circus).Does anyone know if these will be shown in there OAR or are they full frame.thanks

The companion box set to this has the movies in their correct W/S ratios so it’s a safe bet that these will be too.
|
thanks for the info.

I have the set and they are WS and 16X9!

Mr Cowherd, since you own these films, can you please tell me the aspect ratio of the films in this boxset? I'd appreciate it. I received this email from BlackStar UK concerning the fullscreen vs widescreen presentation of these films:
Hi Jeffrey, Thanks for your e-mail. The product in question is Standard 4:3. http://www.blackstar.co.uk/video/item/7000000073416 Do get back in touch if you have any further questions/enquiries. Regards, Colin Porter, Customer Care www.blackstar.co.uk - The UK's biggest video store |

Originally posted by Dragonslayer Jonathan.e's "safe bet" is not good enough reassurance for me. Hmmmm. Twins of Evil and Countess Dracula look to be about 1.85:1. Haven’t had a chance to look at Vampire Circus yet. Companion set contains Hands of the Ripper, The Uncanny and Monster. Very much the inferior set. |

Originally posted by Jaymole Thanks for the info but I can't seem to find these films or the set at Bensonsworld. Has it come out yet? http://www.playserver3.com/Play247.a...2&title=107473 |
Dragonslayer:
all three are 1.85. I have a Malata 996 and all three seem 1.66 at first but when I zoom out and it frames right at 1.85. This happens with some of the disks I import. |

Thanks, I'm expecting delivery of mine perhaps tomorrow.

...but what does it LOOK like?
Sounds like a great set except for one thing: Carlton has produced some discs that are pretty mediocre looking, at best.
I have Carlton's A Matter of Life and Death and their Henry V, both of which feature pretty dubious picture quality that's not a whole lot better than video. So the big question is: what do the films on this set actually look like? |
I just received my set in the mail this afternoon. I'm going to watch the "Twins of Evil" tonite. I'll post my impressions later tonite or tomorrow.
|
The transfers on all of these are stunning. I’ve never seen them look better - It’s like watching them for the first time.

SOLD!

Thanks Mark but I was asking about the other Hammer set containing Hands of the Ripper. It's available at Blackstar but not at Bensonsworld.
