Attack the Gas Station (korean DVD) comments
very funny movie. dark and ridiculous. first few minutes thru it, i took it too seriously and was getting really to dislike the characters. just random violence? but then, i realized that it is a comedy and it was fine.
i have to quibble w/ the KFC's review a little. the subtitles are ok only. several mistranslations, things not translated, etc. the syllable game translation was totally a joke.
and of course, it has that same error of having to set the dvd player to 16x9 setting to see it right. (as nowhere to hide)
i give it 8/10.
i watched the korean version.

I've been pretty content with my HK version of the DVD. Anything special about the Korean version that makes it desireable? Better transfer and sound? Extras?

I had the HK version, but AFAIK there was no way to get widescreen -- so I ebayed it and plan on getting the Spectrum release (also R0) with widescreen. Unless of course I missed something on the HK version.

I was WTF when I read the subs for the syllable game, too.
FYI, there's a scene of the stick guy on the Spectrum release where it appears as if there's a tear across the entire celluloid or something, for 1/5th of a second or something. You can definitely see it on slow and on regular play.

I just watched my Spectrum copy last week. (been sitting on my shelf for months) ![Smilie](/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I thought the tranfer was okay, seemed a bit dark though. The subs were kinda flaky at times, yep.

So wait, Trigger, was there a way to make the HK widescreen or does it not matter to you? Just wondering if I made a mistake.
