hong kong dvd help needed

Well my dad is going to hong kong very soon and he wanted to know if i wanted anything picked up while he was there.

i know there are TONS of hong kong dvds that I really want but i can't think of them for the life of me at the moment. is there a site that will list them? or do you guys have any recommendations on titles that suck in R1 or are just plain non-existant in north-america?

it would be greatly appreciated!
craig,

ps. another thing, the dvds would have to be all-regions because I don't have an all-region player
Unless there's a spot in Hong Kong I could go to get an e-mod for my Pioneer DV-525? Apparantly a device for my model exists that can just plug into the back/side/whatever...and doesn't require any soldering. Is that true? Can it be sold anywhere in Hong Kong?

Thanks tremendously to anybody who has any insight for me!

first you should post what kinds of films you're looking for. Action, Drama, Martial Arts, Fantasy, etc... or maybe Jackie Chan, John Woo, Chow Yun Fat, Jet Li films, etc...

yeah, sorry.
i didn't really want to post genres, because i didn't want to limit myself.
i was hoping there was a website i could go to that would list most of 'em or something

Now that you bring it up though... no martial arts movies really.
I'm not a big jet li/jackie chan/type movie kind of guy.

e-mod

I'd like to know more about this e-mod. I also have a Pioneer 525, besides
my Sampo 620.

The first thing you should do is read this thread, it contains tons of great information on how to get started with HK movies:

OFFICIAL Newbie Help: HK DVD & Discussion

Then you should read about bringing in DVDs from foreign countries post Sept. 11:

Customs entry question [US/CANADA]
