regional coding
I have an arcam dv88 and recently purchased new region 1 dvds The Godfather Collection, 101 Dalmations, Babe and Snow White. In theory the arcam is easy to switch from region 2 to region 1, with a simple setup command, and this has worked for me in the past, but none of these titles will play.
I assume this is because of rce protection, but no message comes up, the disc loads, then nothing.
Any ideas about how to get round this very frustrating problem? (My kid is not impressed!)

I've copied it to that forum on the off-chance that someone can assist but for now will leave it open here also.

REGIONAL MODIFICATIONS
Although Arcam refuse to confirm or deny handset region-change, HCC has discovered that the DV88, like many other Zoran-equipped models, is open to DIY modification. Open the tray, enter 1,1,1,1 on the remote then a 2 digit number to alter parameters such as DVD region and preset video standards. Code 01 gives R1, NTSC output, component default and 7.5 IRE black level. Code 02 gives R2, PAL, RGB default and 0 IRE. Code 13 gives auto-region playback with many DVD titles.
Can I ask how much this DVD player cost you?
Regards
