Stolen Music...

One of the most fun things about some of the kung fu flicks is when you recognize snippets of American movie music in them! I recently rewatched Buddhist Fist, and the entire second half of the film is scored with snippets from Hitchcock's "Vertigo". The climactic ending has the Vertigo love theme!? Hardly appropriate... The first half of the film is scored with this really funky wah-wah guitar stuff, which makes the Vertigo music seem even more out-of-the-blue...

Another popular piece of American movie music I've heard ripped off in several HK films is a little cue from Halloween, kind of a single synth hit that happens when someone/thing pops out all of a sudden! Since the cue is so short, it's often faded in and out a couple times or faded in and out with other music cues from other movies to "blend" more...

Anyone else have any recollections of other American movie music that has been ripped and inserted into HK or China flix? I love these little discoveries...
