ugh... what a piece of sh*t this film was. Johnny had a sweet mullet though. Anybody else see this?

I didn't think it was all that bad. Sure it was kind of goofy/campy but I've seen worse (JC's Master of Disaster for instance ).

Yeah - wasn't the worst film ever or anything, but it was really crappy though. What did you think of Johnny's sweet Mullet?

I particularly liked how the full frame transfer allowed the tracks of the camera set-up to be seen during one shot. Not that a widescreen print would have helped this dog. Certainly not the worst thing ever, but incredibly dumb. No wonder it got shelved for so long before being released. What was Tsui Hark thinking?

I keep this because of the camp value and the full frame deal. So funny and bad at the same time.

The fight scenes are great but.... well... the axolotl gives it two thumbs up when no one is around.

The scene in which the chick saves the dude who runs Po Chi Lum - it's supposed to look like he falls off her motorcycle, but you can clearly see him being thrown over the camera - then in the shot of her stationary on her motorcycle - you can see someone's hand holding the motorcycle steady for her! There's a ton of crap like that. Stinky film.

He and Jet Li were probably on vacation in L.A. getting high in their hotel rooms. I'll bet the conversation went something like this:

[Tsui] "Hey Jet - what are you doing this weekend?"
[Jet] "Nothing, why?"
[Tsui] "Me neither - wanna make a movie while we're here?"
[Jet] {toke} "Sure - I guess... What should it be about?"
[Tsui] {toke} "Dude - order some pizza, I got the munchies"
[Jet] "Ok man... hey - did you eat all the cheese puffs?"
[Tsui] ... {long silence} "We can do another Wong Fei Hung movie only it'll be in modern times and it'll be in America..."
{35 minutes later} [knock knock]
[Tsui] "Hey Jet, pizza's here - gimme some cash."
[Jet] "I'm out - I spent it all on this dime bag"
[Tsui] ..."Hey Jet, check out this pizza delivery guy's sweet mullet!"
[Pizza Guy] "That'll be $16.50."
[Tsui] "You wanna star in a kung-fu movie?"
[Pizza Guy] "Sure - it'll beat doing gay porn"

The rest is history.

Its got the scarlet letter in the HK action world. In ten yrs I've never met anyone who liked this film. Still amuses me that unsuspecting people continue to pick it up, kind of like seeeing Killer Meteors and saying, "Cool, Jackie Chan!".
