Re: Disney Movie Insiders (RIP DMR)

Well, someone logged into my account today and redeemed/stole all my points and used them on Fandango gift cards. I submitted a form on their site to see about getting it fixed. We'll see how that goes.

It was two different cities (Seattle & Kansas City) used for two different transactions.

Not sure if their site was hacked but it might be worth everyone looking into/changing passwords.

One problem is most of the Disney sites are the same login. Disney+, ESPN, Marvel, etc. There was mention that a lot of Disney+ accounts were supposedly hacked and for sale online.

Just out of curiosity, was it a complex password? Was it unique to only Disney sites?

It was a decent password. I have about 4-6 I use for most general stuff. Banking stuff I keep totally unique.

Re: Disney Movie Insiders (RIP DMR)

I'm very glad I cashed in almost all my points on the old site. I figured shuttling the old site was Disney's way of slowly but surely ending this program's benefits. I doubt we ever get a big selection of physical media rewards again.

Re: Disney Movie Insiders (RIP DMR)

There are several complaints about hacked accounts on the DMI Facebook page. I think the sign-in alert e-mails with your browser and location info must be a recent addition to combat this.

I doubt Disney has confirmed a data breach, but that's probably why they pulled the gift cards. Much more enticing to hackers than those crappy coupons. Shame these criminals have to ruin it for everyone else.

Since they control access to so many things now, Disney better get their ass in gear and add 2FA to Disney logins.

Re: Disney Movie Insiders (RIP DMR)

I shoulda redeemed mine before the switch over. I did spent a lot on the Pop WiR2: Princesses but still have a couple thousand. The new reward selection sucks.

So back to my ordeal. After submitting the form, I got an email about 5 hours later. It stated that they locked my account and sent me a phone number to call with a case number. I called last night and provided the info and the [super friendly] lady killed the fandango codes that were bought and reinstated my points all in a matter of 3-5 minutes(if that). I checked online after hanging up and they were already back in my account. Super painless. There was no questioning for more details or back and forth or nothing. That had to be the easiest customer service call I've ever experienced. Nice change of pace.

So DMR/DMI Customer Service rating from me?

Thank you both!

I’m not quite sure why I’m continuing to rack up points ... but someday I will know.

Thanks for posting. I'm not sure why I get the points though. They don't seem to be worth anything anymore.

Re: Disney Movie Insiders (RIP DMR)

What I want to know is did Alan Smithee ever redeem his points for the tour? And if he did, I understand that any studio tour would of course have to be delayed due to the pandemic but it would be a shame to lose all those points.

Alan, if you are reading this do you still have your points or were they redeemed?

Me, it has been years since I bothered redeeming points because due to unemployment for a very long stretch and my moving away from purchasing physical media (or even paying for streaming films that would net me points) I would not have a lot of points to play with anyway.

Re: Disney Movie Insiders (RIP DMR)

The program after the reset is more or less what Best Buy did to its free rewards program after a while.
