This might be covered in the Book Forum, but deserves to be here as well. Steven King's new monster hardcover (1088 pages) comes out tomorrow and is being sold for a paltry $9 at Amazon and at Walmart.con (with free shipping). MSRP is $35 and it's been getting very good reviews. Worth checking out.

King is my favorite author but I haven't been able to finish a book of his since the final Dark Tower novel. I couldn't get into From a Buick and Cell. I never got Lisey's Story and I'm only a couple stories into After the Sunset. $9 is too good to pass up though.

Michael Crichton's (last?) book is also $9 on Amazon, FWIW.

The book has been getting lots of good reviews. Neil Gaiman said it's one of his favourite books this year, and Guillermo Del Toro has raved about it.

I jumped on this deal and I'm really looking forward to this book. The latest King I've read was Dark Tower 7 (which I did love), but the epic nature really excites me.

Word has it that Crichton was approximately "a third of the way through" a new technological thriller that will finished by a co-writer.

Perhaps they should contact James "The Pimp" Patterson, to see if they can take a look at his Rolodex.

It went up to $17.50 in Amazon....I guess it was for pre-orders only. Oh well, next time, I will buy it before the release date.
