I wasn't sure if I should make a new thread or not, so sorry if this is a little off topic..
I got an e-mail, being a subscriber to EW, that offered a free cd when you sign up thru that e-mail to yourmusic.com. So now I've resubscribed (under a new email address), but I can't find anything on getting a free cd with the first one? Anyone else get or try this? Thanks!

Ew
On that site --
You can can get EW for just the $2 fee. Is that available for renewals?
And does anyone know what they charge for the renewal rate after the first year?

I got an email from EW last night about a new service. It sounds interesting. Had anyone tried it?
It's $3.95 per month for three magazines (which is the lowest available package). EW is among the many selections. $1.32 per month for EW sounds pretty good!
You can even change which magazines you get on a monthly basis.
Edit to remove pointless link

I didn't want to get in trouble by linking a referral url, here's the actual link from the email I got. But, I still see $3.95 from the link I posted. Maybe my cookie is set since I linked through the email link initially? Clear the cookie and then click on this link?

What's the catch with BizRate and Maghound?
From what I gather with the BizRate one, it's good for a year then it bumps up to full retail unless you cancel? How easy do they make it to cancel?

Just for the record, that magohound link makes you jump through ALL the hoops.....pick the mags........billing info......shipping info.......credit card........and then gives you a message basically saying they are out of business and your order is completely worthless!
what nerve!

The usual catches with these kinds of offers:
1) Junk mail. In the agreements that you gloss over, they usually say they're allowed to sell your address information to other companies. Lots of physical junk mail and email.
2) Auto renewals. You pay a premium when renewal time comes, and because they already have your CC number, it's automatic. You should be able to cancel over the phone, but sometimes the process is a cumbersome.

I never completed the process because the only magazine I didn't have about 3 years left on that I wanted was EW. I'm sorry I ever posted the link!

I hope everyone read the fine print on the Biz Rate deal:
"ONGOING MAGAZINE SERVICE AUTHORIZATION: Enjoy your favorites with the first year already paid for by Computer Associates. The credit/debit card you provide will be charged just $2 each for processing. After your complimentary year, your selections will continue. Each year, you'll receive a reminder notice and you authorize the account you provided to be charged the rate on the notice for the next year unless you choose to cancel. The information you've provided will be collected by SynapseConnect to process and fulfill your selections. Please print a copy of this page for your records."

Maghound
I think with the Maghound offers we were all victims of a very subversive market research effort by Time Warner. I had received an email as well but the offered price was $4.95 a month for three magazines. With others seeing $3.95 as well as $6.95, they are likely testing what price points capture people.
This felt like a very shady way to do it because they do have you go through the entire process, and then at the end basically tell you that this is a concept and hasn't officially started yet.

If you have some Delta SkyMiles to burn, consider this site:
https://delta.mpmvp.com/magazine/choose.asp
57 issues of EW for 1,400 miles. No credit card needed. Just make sure you have enough miles in your account.
