$60 from Costco for the Sirius Starmate. NO REBATES, this is a newer receiver. It says $50 off reflected in price:

Unless you plan to take it into the house also, I would recommend a car deck instead of using the FM transmitter. Much better reception quality.

Sirius is great though, NFL...

Or you can just get a cassette adapter. Works great for me. I use SIRIUS at the office, house, and car.

Choosing Sirius over XM only because of Howard Stern seems ridiculous to me but I'm not a fan of his crapfest.

Why not? What else do you want to know? Remember, this is a message board. Don't like it then ignore it. I don't recall addressing you specifically.

MOD NOTE: Let's focus on the deal and leave the unnecessary banter out. So some of you like Howard Stern and some of you don't. Feel free to express your opinion on that. But please do NOT address other members over their opinions of Howard Stern. This is not a Stern discussion thread (or forum). This is a Hot Deals forum.

Inappropriate comments were crossed out as well as previous comments that led to those comments (instigators get same treatment as offenders).

Red dog what is this cassette adapter you speak of???

Does it work the same way as those portable CD players w/ the cassette adapter, back in the day before cd decks?

Exact same thing. Those will work with satellite radio, mp3 players etc. just like they do with discmen.

I too am not even close to someone who likes Howard, HOWEVER....My cousin does, and I helped his wife buy an XM for him for Christmas because of Howard.....

rut row raggy...... She is not going to be happy with me

My intentions were good to help her get that for my cousin considering how I feel about Mr. Stern....

Ok, before I make the phone call to her that I am really not looking forward to, let me ask some of you sirius owners a question. What should I tell her to get with the radio?

Most likely my cousin will want to listen to it in the car, HOWEVER he is a welder and has a "home business" and he is out in his work shop most of the day and will probally do most of his sirius listening in there. Can you just hook up "portable speakers" to it? Like the kind you would plug into a headset jack? Or do they have some kind of a transmitter that would transmit on FM? (he has an old beat up "ghetto blaster" in his shop)

What would be the best route to go? Being kind of a "techie" guy that I am, I realize the equiptment he has is not exactly of the highest quality and it almost sounds like a waste for him off all people to have a sirius radio, because he will not be able to enjoy it the way it was intended. Thanks in advance for any advice.
