Open up the drive, there is a small screw holding the two pieces together.
Plug it in. Its easier to use the extension cable that came with the drive.
Find the two resistors named R10 and BC5. They are located next to each other by the smaller microchip.
Use a paperclip to short R10 resistor. You can do this by putting each end of the paperclip on either side of the resistor.
While R10 is shorted short BC5.
The drive should disappear and windows should recognize it as USB 25X and ask you to format.
Took me almost an hour to get it done, just keep shorting those resistors and it should work.

I finally got around to doing this. I followed the directions and I got the ad to disappear. However, before AND after a system restart, I cannot reformat the drive. I click on the drive and it says the drive is not formatted, would you like to reformat, I click yes and then it says the drive could not be formatted. help??

runner001,
I had that problem at first too. Just keep doing what has been posted and it will "come alive" for you. Takes a few trys. Be carefull not to do like a friend of mine did and "break" off one of the resistors that you are shorting out. Hope it works out for you.
