Well, you could try to find someone who is driving the country to bring it to you ala Smoky and the Bandit, but on a smaller scale. I am sort of kidding, but you could put something on Craig's List and give it a shot since it won't cost you anything. Maybe put in some wanted posts in cities you know have it.

Get a REEAALLLLYY long hose, they can be found pretty cheaply.

Maybe check around, are there any college kids around you who go to school [preferably driving] somewhere they sell it?

I keep meaning to order some cookies--Matt's Chocolate Chip Cookies are about the best premade cookies I've ever had, and no one around me carries them, even after I've asked. They ship UPS, and the more you buy, the cheaper the shipping is.

It is amazing how after you move from one place to another, you really tend to miss the little things such a a particular soda...

I ALWAYS stock up on cheerwine soda whenever I make a trip to Virginia from here in Alabama... its been a couple years since I have gone there but am planning what will be an expensive drive there this summer...

i noticed too in Mexico last summer how much of a difference the pure cane sugar made in their cokes down there... the rumor on some websites was that coca-cola purposely switched classic coke for new coke in the early 80's only as a way to switch over to cheaper corn syrup, and not have everyone notice...

You might be able to find some generic " Diet Grapefruit " soda in your local market. Shasta makes one.

There's no substitue for the real Diet Squirt. I've tried and just found the others wanting.

Publix called me and said they can't get the Diet Squirt. It is not bottled in Florida and they said state law prohibits them from bringing it in from outside the state. Jeez, there's a law for everything.

I was in Austin a few weeks ago and couldn't find any Dublin Dr. Pepper. I'm back in Austin in a couple weeks, where should I go to find it? I want to take a bunch home with me.

I like the chocolate soft drink but I haven`t seen it for a while.
What other kinds of food and drink do you like?

I think I once saw it in Central Market (Austin did have one, not been down in years there) -- Also I think one in DFW had it once (haven't been in a long time either).

That's funny! Here in central Illinois Cheerwine showed up about a month ago. Thought it was a storebrand Dr. Pepper until I saw that Pepsi was distibruting it here. It will last a few months like all of Pepsi's expirmental "regional" drinks. My favorite was about 5 years ago Pepsi picked up a Honey Lemonade (I think it was Nesbitts?) that was to die for.

As for tracking down Diet Squirt . . . look in the yellow pages under "beverages" and start calling distributors. Ask them if they carry it or know who does in your area. You should have better luck than dealing with the grocery stores. And you could save 15% by cutting out the middle man. (Not really, distributors won't sell to individuals, but they might get a lizard to do The Robot for you!)

While we are talking about obscure sodas . . . I was in a local eatery yesterday (Cozy Dogs, true birth place of the corndog) and they had among their decor a can of "Pepsi Max." Anybody know anything about this? It looked pretty much like today's Pepsi cans (blue with the globe logo) but next to the logo was "MAX" in red graffitti style lettering. I like finding oddball sodas, but know nothing about this one!

Basically it's the same as Pepsi One, just a different name outside the US.

[QUOTE]

That is to true. I grew up in Texas, and have been living in nashville for four years. I just moved to Tulsa and have been chowing down on Whataburger, Mrs. Bairds bread, and Blue Bell Ice Cream. I always had anyone coming from TX stock me up on that sort of thing, and this Sugar cane dp will be on my list next time through.

HEB Central Market sells the 8oz bottles for $6.99 a 6 pack and Rudy's BBQ sells them for $1.50 for each 8oz bottle. There are other cheaper places to get them like an Exxon station in Thrall (about 30 minutes north-east of Austin). The best place to buy them in bulk would be the Dr Pepper Museum in Waco, about an hour and half north of Austin on I-35. They can also be bought at most Brookshire Brothers locations in and around the central Texas area. The best thing to do with Brookshire brothers is call ahead and make sure the location you are looking to visit does actually stock the Dublin Dr. Pepper.

Be warned that once you have had a Dublin Dr. Pepper no other Dr. Pepper will do. Hands down my favorite Soda, I keep a case on hand at all times.
