No Other Choice Limited Edition Deluxe 4K & Blu Ray

I can't find a release date yet, but this is up for pre-order now. It looks to be a very nice limited release. It's expensive at $70. Pre-order bonus of two pins included.

Hoping for a "standard" $30-ish dollar release, but I have a feeling that's not going to happen.

If Neon can't be bothered to do a standard release of Oldboy (or the other 2 films of the Vengeance trilogy) I don't see why they would do a standard release of this.

As much as I support physical media, FandangoAtHome has a bundle of No Other Choice and Old Boy in UHD for $27.99

The msrp is ridiculous for this. I’ll stick to digital.

It's a really nice, deluxe, premium, collector's edition set. If there were something like that for a 2025 film I absolutely loved (like Sinners or One Battle), I'd have no problem splurging for it. But I didn't like this film enough to make the purchase.

What's the MSRP for a deluxe Criterion release? $50?

If it was Criterion, I'd know that I can get it on sale for $25. Is there any chance that this will go on sale in the future? Same with these $50 steelbooks from Disney/Fox. At least the Lionsgate and A24 sets are reasonably priced right off the bat

All fair enough. But these, like the Disney Steelbooks are really limited quantities. I think a higher MSRP is fair, and expecting them to go on sale later seems unrealistic.

Re: No Other Choice Limited Edition Deluxe 4K & Blu Ray

I would not expect these extra-limited sets to go on sale at all. There’s no need. I just hope they follow up with a standard set, kind of like what Arrow tends to do. I don’t need all the extra bits and pieces; just the 4K disc(s) with the same features on the discs that are on the BD.

I guess I’m tired of the boutique-ification of so many 4K titles instead of making more budget-friendly releases, though I understand that’s partially how these companies keep their physical media departments afloat. Who knew Criterion would end up being one of the less expensive boutique labels after all these years. I know this isn’t the thread for it, but seeing Mac & Me for $70 MSRP (“on sale” for $47!) on VS is probably the most laughable example.

At least they’re not releasing 25 different slipcover variants, right?

The only way I'd pay that much for a single movie would be if it was signed by the cast.

That is secondary market price. It was $70 at Neon.

$70 isn't much better

I'm sure you're okay with paying it. Some of us can't do that on a regular basis.

Re: No Other Choice Limited Edition Deluxe 4K & Blu Ray

I guess if there is no other choice, but beyond that it’s incredibly stupid for a not even close to a known director in the states to put out such a luxurious box set for 1 movie.

I'm not because I only liked the film, didn't love it. But if it were a film I was really in love with, if he were my favorite director, then paying 70 for a set that fancy, luxurious and limited seems reasonable. It would have to be a really special set to justify such a high price and I would argue in this case it is.
I started this thread not because I wanted this set but because some others really loved the film and I wanted to alert them that the pre-order was up so they could get an order in before Neon sold out, which I guess they already did. I expect a vanilla BR disc will eventually be released as well.

As for Park being unknown, my guess is that most people who know what Neon is and/or would be willing to buy a deluxe UHD set direct from their site are also well aware of Park.
