The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
Since Arrow seems to be upping their Blu-ray release slate, I figured they deserved their own thread. Those of you posting on Battle Royale should probably just continue in the appropriate pre-existing thread(s). I've copied and pasted all of the recent posts on Arrow from the 'Foreign Cinema in Blu' thread, and I'll post all of the relevant info on upcoming releases in this thread as they are announced elsewhere. Feel free to post any reviews, news, artwork or whatnot in this thread dealing with all pre-existing (except Battle Royale), announced, or possible Arrow Blu-ray releases. Here are the pre-existing threads on Arrow Blu-ray titles:

Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
I'll probably be picking up Phenomena and Tenebre simply for the fact Anchor Bay still owns the rights to them here in Region A... and well... I don't see either coming out anytime soon.
|
Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
Great idea. I plan on getting all of their region-free titles, and this thread makes keeping a checklist much easier.
|
Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
The Beyond is an absolute must since i don't see grindhouse releasing blu-rays anytime soon...i could be wrong.

Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
So where do you order these from?

even though it sounds like the commentary track is exclusive to the Arrow release, I still can't decide which version of 'Deep Red' I should buy, that shouldn't stop me though, since I own both the Arrow and BU release of 'City of the Living Dead' |

Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
I keep trying to pry information about the "Arrow Academy" titles out of the guys at Arrow, but no luck yet. Fran at Arrow just got back from vacation, so maybe I'll start leaning on him again...

Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
"Departures" was region B locked.
"Bird With The Crystal Plumage" is being released from them in March (or was it April?) |
Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
Spirits of the Dead is on my shopping list. Very cool to see a nice edition of that on BD.

Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
I am just getting into the Arrow Video Collection and I gotta say these are the Criterion of Grindhouse films. The packaging is awesome
This is a good place to get info on all Arrow Blu-ray releases too http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/movies.php?studioid=323 |
Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
I am curious to know if teh Arrow blu-ray of Caligula is complety uncut with all the sex scenes intact like the US release
|
Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
Hopefully Arrow releases some of these in the Arrow Video Collection on Blu-Ray. I've seen some of the DVD pacaking and it's pretty sweet:
Bare Behind Bars Demons Deadly Outlaw: Rekka Jaguar Lives Macabre Martin Silent Night, Deadly Night Sleepless Street Trash Terror at the Opera (aka Opera) The Card Player The House By The Cemetery The Stendahl Syndrome Two Evil Eyes also it would be cool if Arrow could get rights to some of these and release them: Suspiria Giallo (just to have every Argento on Blu) The Phantom of the Opera (Argento) Porno Holocaust Erotic Nights of the Living Dead Anthropophagaus: The Grim Reaper Battle Royale II Ichi The Killer |
Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
I added the Arrow Academy titles to the first post. I'll continue to update the initial release list as new titles are announced.

Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
These will almost certainly be region B locked.

Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
Any word on if Phenomena and Tenebre will be uncut? I'm not sure if they've ever been passed uncut by the British film board...
|
Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
The specs on Phenomena I just added to the first post don't mention whether the film is cut or not, only 'High Definition transfer of the Italian cut of the film', which makes me assume that the English-language cut will be in SD. I emailed Arrow with your question, and I'll post any response I receive in this thread.

Is there any place but Amazon.co.uk to import these? Every time I try to order one from Amazon.co.uk they say that they cant ship it to my address

Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
As mentioned before, if you purchase items directly from Amazon UK, you shouldn't have any problems. Shipping is three pounds for the first item and one pound for each additional item, so if you want to save a few bucks you should order everything at once. Keep in mind, though, that if you do that Amazon won't ship anything (usually) until everything is in-stock.

For the UK, I usually order in 2-disc batches though since large in-stock orders (of DVD's) would probably be shipped via DHL instead of the preferred Royal Mail. |

In my experience, all Amazons will split shipments and ship whatever is ready (at their discretion).

You're right. I meant that any order that includes pre-orders (not out-of-stock items) is usually held up until two days before the release date of the last pre-order.
I've ordered pre-orders with in-stock items and had the in-stock item ship early. For example, I ordered the Evil Dead BD [8/31] on 8/7 with The Aviator BD to get free shipping on the order. The Aviator disc shipped on 8/16 while ED shipped on 8/31. For the UK: Back in May of 2010, I ordered both Tenebre and Inferno in the same order and they split and shipped Inferno and I still have the Tenebre order waiting. |

Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
Phenomena hasn't been hinted at for a US BD release yet, has it?
|
Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
Nope it hasn't. I would love for AB to release it and Tenebre on blu with a great transfer, but so far Arrow is our hope for it. Phenomena results are iffy so far, I hope some of my more reliable/trusted sources come though soon
edit- Just looked at the review again and the caps look better to me today than they did last night... thanks alcohol lol |
Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
Phenomena looks pretty good. Hopefully I'll get one to look at soon.
|
Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
Also has Phenomena (and for that matter Tenebre) been confirmed as uncut?
|
Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
According to the BBFC Phenomena has been passed with no cuts made and Tenebre hasn't been submitted yet. Not surprising, they don't tend to submit the print until they are pretty close to releasing it.
