Re: The Official Arrow Films 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

FEAR IS THE KEY is a pretty solid mystery thriller that inexplicably never had a North American DVD release (as far as I know), and possibly not a VHS release either. I found the Imprint Blu-ray edition in a used book/music/movie store here and was pleasantly surprised. It’s a UK movie, largely shot there, convincingly masquerading as an American movie thanks to just enough location shooting, including easily one of the greatest car chases in 70’s cinema, running around 13 minutes or so and easily ranking up there with the ones THE SEVEN-UPS, BULLITT, and bits of VANISHING POINT (thus the Barry Newman casting, I suspect). It’s not some unheralded classic, but it’s the rare film that actually lives up to the term ‘underrated’. It has Ben Kingsley in an early role (possibly his first?) as one of the bad guys.

It looks like there is no deals yet on the Bruce Lee 4K set. Still super expensive on the Arrow UK site at about $150 after conversion. That's not a price point I feel comfortable spending even if it is 4K.

Isn’t this basically OOP now and only available to purchase as individual titles?

$42.99 price tag for the Conan Chronicles 4k set at bestbuy.com

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/the-con...skuId=36143473

I hesitated to post this here until some time has past when I ordered as this is incorrectly priced.

It's been over a week and no cancelation from best buy. In fact, they emailed me to let me know of the release date delay. The set is now coming out on 1/30/24.

It looks like this price is being honored but no guarantees.

it wouldn't hurt to put an order in and see.

Thanks for the tip. I had $10 in rewards that I was trying to decide what to do with. This seemed like a pretty good use.

Thanks for the heads up. I went ahead and ordered it from Best Buy and if it goes through, I'll cancel my 65 dollar pre-order from Amazon.

Got my copy of Barbarella today. Very nice packaging. Nice 117 page booklet. Gonna eat lunch then check out the discs.

Nice, finally priced match Best Buy. Crazy that the two pack is cheaper than each movie individually. I went to cancel my Best Buy order since I get cash back with my Amazon credit card, but the order is in some packing state with no option to cancel. No big deal.

Amazon Amazon

The Shawscope Volume 2 set is now down to $79.99. That's the lowest price it's been. I paid $89.45 in September. If you were holding out, I would jump at this. This is a quality set.

Re: The Official Arrow Films 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

Pulled the trigger. Thanks for the thread bump.

Also, folks other Arrow titles are on sale like Tremors 2 Deluxe UHD. My Tremors 2 set arrived today and looks great. Lots of extras. I have a soft spot in my heart for the first 3 Tremors films, if Arrow ever does a deluxe UHD edition of Tremors 3 I will also grab it when it goes on sale.

Re: The Official Arrow Films 4K/Blu-ray Discussion and Release Thread

Earlier this month, a bunch of the Shawscope 2 sets turned up on eBay in the $65-70 range, most including shipping. I thought it was brought up here but this bump made me realize it was actually kinda buried in the Blu-Ray bargains ‘cult’ thread. At the moment, it looks like one eBay seller has a few for $69 OBO, while most of the rest are $80+ or auctions.

At the beginning of Arrow’s Shocktober sale they priced them at $35 for probably the first 30-60 minutes of the sale (which made me think it was a conscious ‘mistake’ to move units, particularly if the set is headed OOP in the months ahead). A lot of the eBay sellers had upwards of 10+ copies available, so it was obvious where they got them. Apparently Arrow honoured the price no matter how many you bought.

But considering how much is crammed into these sets, even $80 is a bargain.

I thought those sets already came out? I have the Psycho set, with different artwork. What are the differences?

The others were limited editions, but I’m not sure what’s changed beyond packaging.

I regret picking up one of those cheap ShawScope Vol. 2 sets off eBay. It was technically "new" but arrived in bad shape for a premium set. Tons of incidental damage around the corners and edges. Pretty clearly looks like a factory or distributor reject. I should have just gone with Amazon from the beginning.

The non limited edition of the psycho set is removing the posters, booklet, and the original Psycho, so it's just the sequels.

The hellraiser set now has all 4 films in their own cases with reversable OG art which is great, but it will not include the hardcover book.

The single disc release of Hellraiser will have a slipcase and a theatrical poster of the OG film.

That’s a bummer. A friend of mine ordered a set from there and it arrived in mint condition. The seller kept it unopened in Arrow’s original cardboard box (which actually isn’t much bigger than the box set itself!) and put it inside a bigger box with bubble wrap. Frankly, I’d be leery of ordering one of these sets by itself from Arrow directly, too, because I could see their box leading to shipping damage. It seems sturdy enough, but there’s no padding between the cardboard and its contents. I do wonder if some of these eBay guys are just shipping it ‘as is’, so to speak, rather than repacking the sets in bigger boxes. Considering they’re literally doubling their $35 investment it’s the least they could do.

I did! I bought the Scream Factory Child’s Play UHD release to make up for the fact that the first movie is Blu-ray-only on Arrow’s collection. I haven’t watched any of it yet, though.

That's also my plan .l Did the same with Enter the Dragon.

Does anyone know how long(time wise) are the special features for the original Child's Play 4K?
