Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
Is there any place but Amazon.co.uk to import these? Every time I try to order one from Amazon.co.uk they say that they cant ship it to my address

Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
As mentioned before, if you purchase items directly from Amazon UK, you shouldn't have any problems. Shipping is three pounds for the first item and one pound for each additional item, so if you want to save a few bucks you should order everything at once. Keep in mind, though, that if you do that Amazon won't ship anything (usually) until everything is in-stock.

For the UK, I usually order in 2-disc batches though since large in-stock orders (of DVD's) would probably be shipped via DHL instead of the preferred Royal Mail. |

In my experience, all Amazons will split shipments and ship whatever is ready (at their discretion).

You're right. I meant that any order that includes pre-orders (not out-of-stock items) is usually held up until two days before the release date of the last pre-order.
I've ordered pre-orders with in-stock items and had the in-stock item ship early. For example, I ordered the Evil Dead BD [8/31] on 8/7 with The Aviator BD to get free shipping on the order. The Aviator disc shipped on 8/16 while ED shipped on 8/31. For the UK: Back in May of 2010, I ordered both Tenebre and Inferno in the same order and they split and shipped Inferno and I still have the Tenebre order waiting. |

Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
Phenomena hasn't been hinted at for a US BD release yet, has it?
|
Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
Nope it hasn't. I would love for AB to release it and Tenebre on blu with a great transfer, but so far Arrow is our hope for it. Phenomena results are iffy so far, I hope some of my more reliable/trusted sources come though soon
edit- Just looked at the review again and the caps look better to me today than they did last night... thanks alcohol lol |
Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
Phenomena looks pretty good. Hopefully I'll get one to look at soon.
|
Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
Also has Phenomena (and for that matter Tenebre) been confirmed as uncut?
|
Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
According to the BBFC Phenomena has been passed with no cuts made and Tenebre hasn't been submitted yet. Not surprising, they don't tend to submit the print until they are pretty close to releasing it.

Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
OK, not to be annoying, but I have a BR compatibility question. I have a Samsung BR player that is Region A, just because a BR disc is not region locked does NOT mean it will necessarily play correct? Are there the PAL/NTSC issues as with DVDs? I have heard yes from some and no from others. I would like to have the Arrow Argento discs (well some of them) and need some kind of straight answer finally. OK, commence throwing things at me!

Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
Some Blu-ray discs have PAL or 1080/50i content which is not playable in most US Blu-ray players. Arrow Video discs mostly have PAL content on any bonus DVDs that come with. The Blu-ray disc with the film is usually completely compatible in all cases with Arrow Video EXCEPT when the content is previously released, all new content is HD.
I had to update this because I was very wrong. |

Blu-ray.com review of Vamp - looks like the image is quite nice!

Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
I'm kind of upset over here in the USA.
I bought both Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead for their new extras, and I'm baffled. I put the discs in, the movies play fine, the audio commentaries play fine, but each time I try to select a special feature, the screen goes to black for about 2 seconds, and I'm sent back to the special features menu. Am I missing something here? I'm trying to play on a PS3, and the extras just ain't workin. I know the DVDs aren't supposed to, but the blu-ray doesn't work as far as extras go. |
Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
I'm guessing that those features are in PAL. I haven't tried them on my system yet.

Les Diaboliques will be split evenly over the BD and DVD with each disc containing the same content. |
Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
Good stuff. I don't read the Criterion forum much anymore. As informative as it is, a lot of those people's heads are so far up their own asses that it can be grating.

Re: The Official Arrow Blu-ray Thread
For the record, the prologue is not supposed to be B&W, it is supposed to be sepia toned. Arrow Video are aware of the issue and are working to correct it ahead of the retail release.
