Yeah, but it was a pretty crummy, DNR-infected transfer.

I can't believe I've never encountered Warning from Space before now. I've probably seen the budget DVD with the goofy starfish on the front and passed it by a dozen times, but after looking into the details I'm absolutely interested in getting this.

I wrote a review of Blue Underground's Ultra HD release of The House by the Cemetery. Unsurprisingly, it's pretty terrific. The disc, I mean. My writing, ehhh.

Just received my copy of Ripper from Family Video. Got last years LE set, not the UHD, as I was mainly (only) buying it for the De Masi soundtrack CD.

Gory slashers are one of my least favorite genres, but I'll give the movie a spin soon just to take in the early 80's NYC location work.

Since the Vestron Video Thread is closed, I wasn't sure where to put this.

Their newest releases in the line, Little Monsters (1989) & Shivers (1975) are being carried by Walmart B&M stores. I'd check Online Store Inventory first before venturing out.

Two stores in my area showed them In-Stock but only one store had both on the shelves.

These are Vestron Video's first releases in almost 2 years!

The limited edition UHD set for Daughters of Darkness looks absolutely phenomenal. An amazingly crisp and lovely 4K presentation of 35mm film, the new transfer is amazing. Blows away the old BD. There's also a big difference between the UHD and the included BD, which is struck from the same new transfer. My hat is off to Blue Underground. The lenticular slipcover looks great as well.

I've heard a lot of good things about the 4k. I'm still on the fence about upgrading.

I probably won't since I've​ cut back considerably on my buying. I still have my DVD.

My only objection is that there will always be "something better', so we end up replacing our entire libraries with the latest thing. Buying for the sake of buying. I have decided to stop at Blu-rays. They and DVDs are more than sufficient in quality for my demands. The only way I would consider 4K, 8K, or whatever comes after, is if we started seeing the release of films that have never been released in any other format. Otherwise, I don't need the resolution upgrade that probably isn't even differentiable to my or most people's eyes.

I actually don't think Daughters of Darkness could be improved anymore in a future edition. The UHD transfer is definitive. Makes the older BD look decrepit by comparison. And yes, I've upgraded the film along the way from DVD to BD to now UHD.

Ooh, okay then, that's practically irrefutable.

I've been behind on all of the Blue Underground 4K UHDs that have been released, so tonight I drove to a local Fry's Electronics and Price-Matched all the titles they had in-stock.

Ended up picking up Zombie, The House By The Cemetery, Daughters of Darkness & Maniac.

Looking forward to digging into these soon.

Never seen it, but the trailer looks right up my alley.

Unfortunately, this is a terrible time to drop $50 on a single movie I've never seen before.

I coughed up the dough for Living Dead... but I already saw it and the premium paid was mostly to get the soundtrack CD.

Nothing as compelling attending this release, so I'll just have to wait this out for a standard version.

Central High is a good film. As I recall it came to my attention because of a positive review on "Siskel and Ebert". I believe I saw it on Showtime back in the day. I'd readily get a copy but that price is scary for a non-4K item (and could it turn up in 4K later?)

Yeah it is a good movie...NOT a $50 movie. I saw it on Showtime as well and had been waiting for this to come out.

I really wonder if 4000 people will buy it? I would like to revisit it again but not for $50.

Decent movie, but that price is steep, especially considering they're apparently down to audio interviews these days. Hopefully the doc is more than a Zoom session. Nonetheless, I'm sure it'll still sell out because that's just the norm these days.

All of Synapse's steelbooks prior to 2020 have gotten standard releases in a year or less, so it's a pretty safe bet that'll be the case here as well.

"Decent" is also how I would term it. It was the recipient of some enthusiastic critical notices, to which I think it doesn't live up. I haven't seen it in years, but I remember it being it a bit amateurish on the production side. It's a passable slightly-more-intelligent-than-usual teen-angst potboiler for a slow night.
