Re: Are you ever ashamed of or overwhelmed by your media collection?

Mostly overwhelmed. Only ashamed when I think about the price.

I started recycling the cases if it's just a standard one. I keep the discs in cd drawers. The art work is alphabetized and stored in a closet. Things with unique packaging or Criterion are kept wherever I can fit them.

And I'm finally giving away old discs that I definitely don't want or have on blu. There's still about 2400 individual releases that I'm keeping or haven't decided on.

Some of you with big collections may want to read Bill Hunt's latest column. MediaNews is looking for several BD and DVD collectors in a piece on large collections. Looking for big-time Steelbook and Criterion collectors as well. There's contact info provided.

Sent mine, but not sure if it qualifies. It's about 1500 titles, but it's all over the place.

Thank you for posting that link!

Sent my info in! Collection currently is at 2,800+, mostly consisting of BD & DVD, with a sprinkle of VCD.

I probably shaved 2,000 or so off my collection, but won’t take it out of DVD Profiler as a memorial...

So did anyone here get in the article? I also don't think the guy with the 23,000 piece collection has the biggest media collection.

That Dawn of the Dead set is still probably the best special edition I've ever owned. So many miles out of that thing. Even when I get the 4K I won't be able to give it up, even though I trade in everything once a superior release hits the market.

Agreed, it's a great set. Had mine signed by George at SDCC, so it's not going anywhere when the 4K version releases.

I also got Romero and Ken Foree to sign mine, so even if I upgrade it will stay in my collection.

Pissed that I never got called
back for that Media Play story. Some of the ones who did make it said they sold off some items, and I bet none of them have a VHD player!

What my collection might look like if I had a house.

Ashamed, no.
Overwhelmed, yes. And I've probably got less than 2000 titles... but still. I just can't settle on a "good" way to display/store them all in such a small space.

Be glad that they didn't call you. You think your "collection" is worthy of display?

Remember the user pdjennings? Each "What are you buying on [insert release date]?" he would almost every new release. He probably had over 10k dvds.

Don't you have a sweet home theatre space? No room in there?

Nah, we sold that house when we had to move for my job. There's no room for that where I am now until/unless I can buy a place.
