Re: COCO: 4k Ultra HD / Blu-ray
I went from 2 3D TVs to 0 in the course of 6 months. I now have tons of useless discs that I will never watch (is there a good place to sell them?).
Aside from maybe a few prestige releases, it appears 3D is dead in the USA. Maybe overseas is more popular?
Is 3D still a thing at the Theater?

It isn’t dead and there was already a 3D glassesless TV demo’d. It’ll be back in the next few years.
But if you’re wanting it get rid of 3D discs, I’ll gladly buy them from you at $5 a disc.

Including 3D has been pointless for many years now. A great example of a new and cool fad that went away quickly for most people. You can't even unload the 3D disc from a combo pack for much anymore given the extreme drop in interest.

On virtually every big-budget franchise or animated picture that comes along, it seems. But thankfully there are always 2D options for those who don't care for it.
Tell that to the people selling them on eBay and elsewhere when they go out of print! Even up here, I can resell still-in-print U.K.-only 3D sets for two to three times what they cost to import (latest example: 3D editions of the generally awful Tom Cruise Mummy picture = $$$). And they always sell. Anybody can see that 3D was, is and always will be a niche -- something the studios clearly never understood, and something the naysayers can't help but point out so obviously -- but it's a passionate one.

When I went to see Star Wars on the opening weekend, probably 2/3rd of the showings were in 3D, so I was very limited in the showings to see it in non-3D (like 9am and 7pm).
I bought a LG OLED 2016 model specifically because 3D was going away in future models. Thankfully, 3D is still added to Sony's 4K front projectors which will be my next upgrade.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 on Blu-ray 3D was so much better than when I watched it in 4K.

Can't believe that Best Buy isn't offering a 4K Steelbook for this.

Is there a player that can play both 4K and HD-DVDs? Would be nice if Oppo included it just for the heck of it.

Sometime in April probably- you can get it in 3D sooner from Asia (might even be a 4K and 3D combo), but it’s rather pricey so I will just wait and watch Book of Life in 3D again
Just checked my orders at Zavvi and Thor is supposed to be shipping soon.

Wow April? Don’t want to wait and with my mom with pneumonia I think she would love a pick me up now. Decisions. I did love and was surprised by Book of Life, but think this will exceed. And Vudu has quite a few extras but pricey...

it's rumored that the digital streaming code that accompanies the UHD redeems the Dolby Vision VUDU version. [fingers crossed]
