Since Best Buy ran out of their 4K steelbook already, I'll be waiting for the $9.99 price drop.

I want to support the flick, but that artwork was the only one I was willing to pay extra for.

It might have been a last minute change, which would explain why some online retailers had it listed and we never heard about it being an exclusive. But it's also strange that big retailers like Target and Amazon never had a listing. Either way, report back with what you get. It would be hilarious if it had a Best Buy exclusive sticker on it :lol:

Wait, so you bought a digital copy of it for $20 and then spent $40 on a marked up 3D copy that probably also includes a digital copy? Damn man :lol:

I notice DD's listing says 'backordered' already. Amazing that new releases on such a "dead" format routinely sell out both in stores and online. I realize they don't produce the same quantities of 3D packs as the standard BR and 4K editions, but surely the various studios who haven't abandoned the format (at least in the U.S) must be aware of this?

While I'm fairly confident that BLADE RUNNER's 3D version isn't the greatest example ever ever -- especially due to the film's heavy use of roiling smog and sand in most of the outdoor sequences -- it's still a pretty respectable effort, as mentioned, and the film's "world" as designed lends itself beautifully to the immersive experience. One moment that really "popped" for me (although it might be a case of added depth than actual extension in to the room, per se) is when Deckard first appears out of the shadows aiming his gun into the camera at K. Pretty slick. :)

so the Bluray extras do contain all 3 anime prequels? i thought i read in this thread 1 was excluded. saw a review that 3 are there...

Re: Blade Runner 2049 --> 1/16/18

^ I agree. I'm used to seeing $19.99 ($19.96 @ Walmart) for new releases, then jacked up to $24.99/$24.96 after a couple of weeks. They started doing this inflated pricing with the newer blockbuster releases, they probably think they can get more for Blade Runner because of its popularity and alot of people will probably pay it. I'd rather see lowered first-release pricing, they can jack it up to whatever they want to after that.
Warner Bros does this a lot more compared to other studios.

I splurged on the 3D version and am already having second thoughts. I forgot about the Mondo version posted earlier ...

But since we're already talking price drops, I could probably hold out until the UHD hits 9.99.

What popularity? It was one of the biggest financial bombs of the year (albeit a good one, but still...), evidenced by the relatively small number of copies stocked on store shelves.
It's gonna be $9.99 soon enough.

Well, I view it as a major cinematic release as do alot of others, even if it didn't make a killing at the box office. Rotten Tomatoes gives it an 8.2 out of 10 (87% positive) while the audience gives it a 4.1 out of 5 (81% positive), Metacritic gives it an 81 out of 100, User Reviews = 8.2 out of 10. While it may not be as popular as The Last Jedi or Jumangi, I don't regret using the word 'popular' because in the minds of the people who saw it, it is.

Re: Blade Runner 2049 --> 1/16/18

I wasn't talking about it's artistic merits (which are exemplary), but it's lack of financial success. If it were a big hit, it would've been a loss-leader like the other big titles. But it's not getting people in the stores, so no big discount.

Yeah, looks like the Digital HD got screwed out of one of the shorts.

And the three are prequels, right? Might be a nice idea to watch before movie...

Right. Nowhere to Run and the anime are included. On the VUDU digital hd.

it's so stupid why they would leave the 3rd one out of the digital copy...

Re: Blade Runner 2049 --> 1/16/18

I tried three times to buy this movie before finally succeeding, thanks to the stock manager at my local BB.

1. Preordered the SB for in-store pickup almost 2 weeks before launch. Got email saying it was not available. Posted to their community forum on Tuesday. No response and thread was moved/buried.
2. This afternoon the 3D version came available to order for in-store pickup. Order was cancelled by BB immediately. "Unsuccessful Payment"
3. Tried to reorder with my BB card. Cancelled by BB again. "unsuccessful payment" again.
4. Posted the problem on their "community forum." Mod must have deleted my post with no explanation or contact. I noticed numerous people having similar problems across the site.

Got in contact with the stock manager at the local store who hooked me up with a copy of the 3D version.

This is what worries me about BB moving their software sales online and away from their stores. Their online site/customer service is still a joke compared to Amazon. Just ask anyone that ever tried to buy into the Gamer's Club on their website.

why would they omit 1 prequel on the digital copy, rights? seems rather odd to get rights to nearly all extras but that one...

just curious, but for those that got the 3D edition...did it come with a slipcover?

anyone watch the prequels before the actual movie?

Re: Blade Runner 2049 --> 1/16/18

I watched the prequels online last fall before seeing the movie. They’re not critical but they are a nice look into the world.
