Looks pretty good but I think theyre missing the last film (Mystery of the Batwoman). Not the greatest of the series/films but if theyre calling the set complete it should be there. I had bought it individually on Blu-ray way back when it first released but heads up for others who may not realize its missing.

Some people don't consider that Batwoman movie part of the show in the way the other movies are adored by the fans. I mostly think those two movies are being included since they were already authored and remastered by Warner Archive in the past year.

Im pretty sure it technically is a film from The New Adventures of Batman though. Its got the same voice cast and same crew and animation style. They made it before they started the animated DCAU films that continue to be made today. Still think its odd to exclude it as its already seen a Blu-ray release. Actually even Batman and Harley Quinn is technically considered a film based on The New Adventures of Batman too but to me thats more detached and has a different tone.

Re: Batman: The Animated Series - coming to Blu-ray in 2018

Ugh. The packaging for the discs looks terrible - glued together cardboard sleeves in a "book" like the Bruce Lee Legacy Collection or the first Universal Classic Monsters Collection had. That's disappointing. I also have absolutely no use for Funko Pops.

My excitement for this is tempered a little. I'm still interested to see what reviews say about the AV quality though.

When they say the entire series, does that include The New Batman Adventures?

Yeah, I've gotta say, I would be much more enthusiastic about a simpler version of this set, in a smaller, more conventional box, even if the price weren't much lower. I'd rather have shelf space than a huge book and Funko Pops.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but looking at the photo above the box set in the middle looks to be normal "shelf" size. Just store the art booklet and dolls in a drawer some place separate from the Blu-ray set.

Yes, this has everything with the exception of the aforementioned Batwoman movie. The Batwoman movie may also have not been included because Timm and Dini had nothing to do with it, produced several years after the final episode had aired. That movie was spearheaded by Alan Burnett.

I still think it should have been included. Like I mentioned it is already out on Blu-ray and fits in with The New Batman Adventures seamlessly as its got the same cast and animation style and Im pretty certain at least some people involved with the show were on that movie too. I think I even remember it being promoted as a follow up movie when it originally came out.

I put in my pre-order on Amazon. I don't really care about most of the stuff like the Funko figures or book and would rather just have the show and movies on disc, but oh well.

I don't get why so many collectors editions or whatever still use cardboard sleeves. Probably not as big a problem with blu-ray's durability but still annoying.

Batman: The Animated Series had a ground-breaking initial run from 1992-1995, garnering a Primetime Emmy Award in 1993 for Outstanding Animated Program, along with threeadditional Emmy wins and 13 total Emmy nominations.

The creative team behind the breakthrough animated series was headed by the producing quartet of Bruce Timm, Paul Dini, Alan Burnett and Eric Radomski, alongside executive producers Jean MacCurdy and Tom Ruegger. Shirley Walker composed the award-winning score, while 8-time Emmy Award winner Andrea Romano guided an unparalleled collection of actors as casting/dialogue director. Kevin Altieri, Boyd Kirkland and Frank Paur handled the majority of episodic animation direction, along with Dan Riba, Dick Seabast, Bruce Timm, Eric Radomski and Kent Butterworth.

The Batman: The Animated Series cast rivaled that of any animated series in its time. The cast featured actors with laurels totaling one Academy Award, 11 Oscar nominations, 65 Emmy Awards, 283 Emmy nods, 15 Gold Globe Awards, 85 Golden Globe nominations, four Grammy Awards, a Peabody Award, and 17 actors forever honored with stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Kevin Conroy led the voice cast as Batman, quickly and forever establishing himself as the fan-favorite voice of The Dark Knight. The core cast featured Golden Globe Award winner Efrem Zimbalist Jr. as Alfred Pennyworth, Robert Hastings as Commissioner Gordon, Loren Lester as Robin, and Robert Costanzo as Detective Harvey Bullock.

The extraordinary villains guest cast was led by Mark Hamill as the now-preeminent voice of The Joker, along with Richard Moll as Harvey Dent, Adrienne Barbeau as Catwoman, and Arleen Sorkin as Harley Quinn - the first character to be created initially for animation (by Bruce Timm & Paul Dini) to jump to comic books. Harley Quinn is now recognizable worldwide in film, television, videogames and comics, and is one of DC's most popular female characters and Super Villains.

Other notable guest cast included actor/singer/songwriter Paul Williams as Penguin, Melissa Gilbert as Barbara Gordon, George Dzundza as Scarface, Brock Peters as Lucius Fox, Ed Asner as Roland Daggett, David Warner as Ra's al Ghul, Marilu Henner as Veronica Vreeland, Ron Perlman as Clayface, Roddy McDowall as the Mad Hatter, Helen Slater as Talia al Ghul, Diana Muldaur as Dr. Leslie Thompkins, John Glover as Edward Nygma, Marc Singer as Dr. Kirk Langstrom, Pat Fraley as Bat-Mite, Kate Mulgrew as Red Claw, Ed Begley Jr. as Germs, Michael Ansara as Dr. Victor Fries, Harry Hamlin as Anthony Romulus, Alan Rachins as the Clock King, and Adam West as Simon Trent.

Also lending their voices were entertainment luminaries Elisabeth Moss, LeVar Burton, Elizabeth Montgomery, Paul Winfield, Seth Green, Jeffrey Tambor, Tim Curry, Michael York, Megan Mullally, Alan Young, Brad Garrett, Heather Locklear, Ken Howard, Joseph Campanella, Matt Frewer, Dick Gautier, Treat Williams, Richard Dysart, Peter Scolari, Meredith MacRae, Rene Auberjonois, Tim Matheson, Joe Piscopo, Thomas Wilson, Bud Cort, William Windom, Bill Mumy, Robby Benson, Dorian Harewood, Lindsay Crouse, John Rhys-Davies, Bess Armstrong, Michael Gross, Henry Silva, Paul Dooley, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Micky Dolenz, Ernie Hudson, David Lander, Kevin McCarthy, Roscoe Lee Browne, Peter Strauss, JoBeth Williams, Jeffrey Jones, Loretta Swit, William Katt, Nichelle Nichols, Alan Oppenheimer, Hector Elizondo, Katherine Helmond, Robert Picardo, Melissa Manchester, Jean Smart, Stephanie Zimbalist, Brian George, Bruce Weitz, Vincent Schiavelli, Richard Jeni, Andrea Martin, and Adam Ant.

Thanks. Pre-ordered. I noticed on the WB site they have a set with shirts but fuck that. I don't even want the stupid funko figures that come with this. I don't need any extra shit.

Truthfully I dont really want the Pop! figures either. Not much of a fan of them in the first place and the designs dont do much for me. Id have preferred something nicer and would have potentially paid more for a statue or something. I still want to support this release though so Ill keep my pre-order. Kinda hoping it dips to under $100 before release.

It might be normal shelf height, but the "book" that the discs are in with the dumb cardboard sleeves definitely looks deeper than a typical blu-ray case.

It's a cost-cutting measure mostly to reduce shipping costs for the distributors. Anything sturdier than cardboard weighs more. It also cuts down on used sales, which is always a bonus for the studio when selling physical media.
