I just recently sold off the 3 Disc AB DVD set. It's kind of ironic that people who have seen caps comment on how much the new May restoration/transfer/grading looks like the old AB disc. And it also had the CD soundtrack bundled in.
I only watched the film once, and it must be at least 15 years ago at this point. I failed to see where all the hype came from. It seemed like a colorful but slapdash affair to me then. But I'm eagerly looking forward to reevaluating it now.
A better presentation, especially in regards to a 'scope AR image blown up on a PJ, can definitely influence my reaction. As can the passage of time.
I really would love for this to finally click for me. It's an interesting looking film, if nothing else.

According to May, they were going off production notebooks in regards to what the film should look like during the restoration process before they were able to get Tovoli involved.

Exactly. Synapse isn’t sending these out themselves; CAV (a home media distributor) is handling that for them.

I ordered mine in August but haven't gotten an email from CAV yet. It's still cool we're getting these soon and maybe even before Xmas.

Having this shipped direct from CAV doesn't really fill me with all that much confidence. For a $50 item, I'd be OK with taking a few extra days to get mass shipped to Synapse for them to package and ship individually.
