The whole point of the rerelease in theaters is the 3D version of the movie. And then we don't get 3D on the blu ray here in the US? I don't get it.

The details actually say "3 Different Versions of the Movie" so I wanted to ask you guys if anyone knows what is different between them?

Seamless Branching of the Theatrical cut, Director's Cut and Special extended edition.

And to possibly answer your question Rypro, the Amazon listing specifies "4K Ultra HD Blu-rayTM of the theatrical film".

PS: I agree with the one commenter who posted that no 3D release can ever be considered 'complete' unless it includes the Universal Studios mini-sequel =).

While it would be cool to have the "movie" screen footage available on disc, the show doesn't work without the props and actors that move around the audience. Not something that really translates to video.

Certainly it would not be as cool as really seeing it in person, but as far as I know the show is still going so before it closes down for good some day they really should make a small investment to get in the back of the room and record the whole thing properly. Not just the 3D screen footage you mentioned but also the live actors and smoke and whatnot.

ooh shit third cut will be on here too? the one with the infamous
Spoiler:
Old Sarah Connor narration saying nothing happened and everything is safe. Which if they had gone with that ending, they couldn't really do any sequels

Does Fox really need James Cameron's permission/supervision to put True Lies on blu-ray?

Same with Blade Runner and just about every old movie with multiple cuts. I doubt we'll see any that have all the cuts remastered in 4K.

I doubt this will be the last edition we'll see of T2 on 4K. I expect 3-4 more different editions in the near future.

From digital bits today
http://www.digitalbits.com/columns/m...ts/090117-1430

Lionsgate has officially delayed the 4K Ultra HD release of James Cameron’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day until 10/31. No word on why, but it could simply be taking longer than expected to replicate the title. Adjust your plans accordingly.

Bluray.com is now reporting the new release will be out on December 26th. If you go over to their forums, their whole thread is nothing but pure speculation and bitching that this release will be garbage. Post after post saying that Studio Canel did a bad home video remaster. I don't know what to believe, but I might just wait for reviews before purchasing.

I’m still probably purchasing this, but I have potential concern that I can’t seem to find a review yet with an answer. Will all SE footage still be remastered with rest of the movie? Also Amazon or Walmart doesn’t have a preorder up yet.

Unless I'm doing something wrong, I don't see a comparison between the new and old remastered screenshots.

Edit: I see how it works now, Yikes how is that possible, the shifting between footage form the Theatrical to SE cut will be pretty noticeable I'm sure. Its like the Silent Night deadly Night bluray all over again. I guess we know now this will probably be the first of many releases for T2 in 4k.

Rypro 525 11-25-17 11:45 PM

re: Terminator 2 4K UHD - 12/26/2017

^ i take it they didn't have the elements to do a 4k remaster on the extended footage. Or cameron hates it enough.

I do like that the blu copy also has the Extended extended cut with the alternate ending, that if it had been used, would make sequels impossible to happen

re: Terminator 2 4K UHD - 12/26/2017

my edition from the UK arrived. (its the singular blu ray edition that uses the new 4K master. Can confirm all 3 versions are on the disc. There is certainly a quality dip in when the extended scenes pop up but it's only really noticeable if looking for it. Also the colors are certainly less blue. I popped in my original copy and that almost seemed too blue. I mainly looked at the first scene inside Cyberdyne. Some may lose their shit but most will be pleased.

re: Terminator 2 4K UHD - 12/26/2017

HDD reviewed it and said that the DNR is atrocious.

https://bluray.highdefdigest.com/544...yukimport.html

The epic battle for the future erupts on Blu-ray with a good-looking but slightly problematic 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 encode, struck from a brand-new 4K scan and restoration of the original camera negatives. However, similar to what is seen on the Ultra HD, those restoration efforts appear to be the aftermath of some overzealous tinkering and digital manipulation. Most egregious is clear evidence of noise reduction being applied, sometimes very light and forgivable while at other times, excessive and horridly distracting. In a few areas, faces are noticeable smooth, such as when a naked T-800 walks into the dive bar and later snags the shotgun before stealing a motorcycle. One of the worst moments is the therapy session between Sarah and Dr. Silberman where the unsightly face of the psychiatrist not only makes him looks like a wax figurine but also like the unfortunate result of a Botox experiment gone wrong. The DNR may not be Predator levels of atrocity, but it is nonetheless bad and disheartening for an action classic. On top of that, there are also several instances of aliasing and moiré effects along the sharpest edges and in light fixtures.

I have pretty much accepted that Terminator 2 will always have continuous home video releases. I want to see the new documentary, and the cgi fixes in the movie. But you know there will be another 4k release down the road with a complete remaster of the SE cut of the movie.

Yeah, that certainly seems to be what everyone is saying. What a disappointment, but like Bluelitespecial said, you know there'll be another release before too much longer (and another and another and...).

I say Meh to that review.

Also, DNR is not a bad 3 letter word... it is an acronym of the 3 words...
