We watched the 1.78 version and there were only a couple shots that looked tight. I think they did a pretty good job moving this to a theatrical version.

Yeah, great price.

Also picked up Starship Troopers 4K for $9 and change.

Got both in the mail today. Amazon Prime FTW.

Are there any DVD to BD screenshots comparisons out there? Just wondering just how much the picture quality is improved over the DVD.

I just watched the Blu-ray last night in my home theater (projector with 96" screen). I didn't do a direct comparison with the DVD, but I would say the difference is more noticeable in the color saturation than in the resolution. In my opinion, it's worth the upgrade at around $15 considering how good the actual movie is.

I tried playing the DVD not long ago on our 60" screen and it was simply terrible.

Watching the Bluray recently, one can tell it had tv origins but there were only one or two spots that looked not-don't-great but they quickly passed.

This is worh it. Period.

The compression is vastly improved and the red push of the dvd transfer is dialed back considerably. The framing is also slightly different.

Thanks. I wish I hadn't missed that short term Amazon price. Now I'll just wait for one of those Warner Archive sales.
