Yeah, that's awful. But I still suspect it will come eventually. :fc:

Just my opinion here, but while the 3D case is kinda cool with the clear slipcover, it just pales in comparison to that beautiful embossed multicolor steelbook. I really like it and how it goes with the Guardians walkman and the Ant Man HDD steelbook.

Once I was able to see the steelbook in person I too thought it was superior. So now I just need to unload the standard 3D version somehow.

I really wanted this movie, was anxious for its release, but with price vs. income as they are I opted for the BD+DVD+DHD release @$22.99. Wish they would've had it for $19.99 like they have for most new releases but with Disney behind the wheel I guess that's not going to happen. Greed is what fucked our economy up in the first place, I guess we still haven't learned our lesson. The steelbook looked good but I had to draw a line somewhere.

BTW, we watched it night before last, we both liked it...

True, that's what I can always hope for and I'll cross my fingers that it shows up. I mean at the point even if its damaged up the wazzu, I still have a free digital code. I'll keep watching it for another week, but I'll give up eventually.

Back when I was getting four or five a week, or when money was really tight, the price was very important. Now that I average maybe one a month, I just buy on release week and don't worry about the $3 or $4.

I remember when Disney jumped into regular DVD. They put out a crappy transfer and had a $39.99 MSRP compared to the industry average of $29.99. People not buying their product brought the price down.

Is this a case of studio pricing or did the retailers not discount so much because they knew it would sell anyway?

We watched the 3D version tonight and it was awesome. Easily one of the best live action 3D transfers I've seen.

Is there a reason the first Team Thor hasn't been on a blu-ray? Seems like,it should have been on the Captain America Civil War blu-ray, but wasn't. Seems odd to have part 2 on the Doctor Strange blu-ray when the first one is atuck on youtube.

These days I pick and choose which movies I want to add to my collection as money is tighter than it used to be (and I already have most of what I ever wanted anyway), so $22.99 for me is really pushing it. Believe me, I looked numerous places in hopes of finding it cheaper but couldn't. I'm kind of a stickler about getting the best possible version of certain movies. I remember Captain America: Winter Soldier, Disney released that as a single disc no frills blu-ray ~or~ you could buy the deluxe packaging 3D+2D+DHD with slipcover for $30 (!!!). I wanted the deluxe packaging but not at $30 so I waited.....and waited.....and waited, they never lowered the price or put it on sale for a decent price. 2 years later Target still had it listed for $30 (now minus slipcover) so I ended up buying it at Ebay for $24. I won't do that very often these days.

I know that Amazon has had a feud going with Disney over their pricing for a little while now. They specifically held out offering Doctor Strange for pre-order in hopes of squeezing a better price from Disney, but in the end they sold it for the same $22.99 everyone else was selling it for. Disney is just plain greedy.

They were OK, worth checking out once. The only pain was there were none on the 3D disc, so I had to pop in the 2D version.

This again suffers from too much darkness in the image. The 3D is great but the image is too dark...

No it isn't, it looks great. Just finished watching most of it and I think the 3D looks fantastic. Great depth in many places. Well utilized.

I'm sorry, I wish it weren't so. I know this is blasphemous, but switched to 2D. Much better colors and brighter. Oh well.

May be settings on our TV. The 3D is one of the best, and it is bright and robust. And there hasn't been a review yet stating it's a dark picture.

Re: Doctor Strange -- 2/28/17

Yeah, we didn't have any darkness issues either. The very beginning was a tad dark, but that only lasted a few minutes.

bluray.com pretty much describes what i am seeing...

Are you reading the 3D review? Where does it say it's darker? And for comparison's sake - EVERY 3D picture will not be as "punchy" as 2D, due to the 3D filter.

or get a LG OLED 4K TV - those suckers punch out a ton of light for 3D viewing ('Doctor Strange' 3D looked fantastic by the way).

The only real drawback is that colors are a little less punchy and nuanced. An already dark film is a bit more dim in 3D; even brighter locations, like the hospital when a bloodied Strange is rolled in after his accident, doesn't enjoy the same intensity as the standard Blu-ray has to offer. Still, color holds solid enough; oranges still dazzle and the abundantly colorful dimensions are still nicely saturated; they're all just a step or two down from the general release and represent the only real drawback on offer. Black levels are appropriately deep and detailed and skin tones appear neutral, if not, again, a hair less full.

Re: Doctor Strange -- 2/28/17

director Scott Derrickson did say he did a UHD color pass of the movie - I am very curious how that will look compared to the 2D bluray. (Come on Disney... [Michael Jackson voice: "make that change"])
