Looks like the new transfer does have some compression issues. Alas.

Perhaps an Ultra HD 4K release is coming too?

Seems to a have different color timing and framing as well. Not sure which is correct or preferred.

Already have the UK BD. Probably going to stick with it.

Surprisingly enough, I've never seen Highlander. Would it be worth watching now for the first time or is it more of a nostalgia thing?

The original is always worth a watch. It's terrific.

If you like Queen, you'll love the hell out of the soundtrack.

Compression issues aren't really a product of the transfer, but of the disc mastering. It's possible Lionsgate may do their own master from the 4K transfer.

Re: Highlander 30th Anniversary Blu-ray Edition - 09/27/16

I just finished watching my import copy and will say that it looks the best it's ever looked, with the caveat being that the only scenes that I noticed that had contrast boosting, minimal at that, was the first sword fight at the Garden. Other than that, it looked and sounded great.

One thing that shocked me was the new interview with Christopher Lambert. His voice was shaky as hell and at first I thought he had parkinson's diseas but as I read further online I guess he was an alcoholic and it's the effects of withdrawal. It must have been serious if it affected his speech patterns once off the booze. The ironic thing is that he owns a wine company.

I watched this today. I had never seen it before and it was sitting in my unwatched media pile. Overall, I liked the movie. The Queen soundtrack, Connery and Clancy Brown are great. Christopher Lambert is the worst part of the movie. He has a look of constipation on his face throughout the movie and his accent is strange. I would give the movie a 7/10, but I couldn't believe anyone would cast Lambert as the lead in this movie. He's emotionless throughout the whole movie.

Ha! Yeah, it’s all silly as hell, but I just love it for some unknown reason. I think part of it is because of Lambert acting the way he does. And Connery playing a Spaniard? I thought that was laughable way back them, but I love all of their parts now.

Ah, duh that’s right. I get him confused with the Australian playing a Spaniard.
