I wish the cover for the standard release was better. Kind of boring compared with the great marketing the film had.

Re: DEADPOOL: Steelbook
Picked up my copy as well as a copy for one of best friends today during my lunch break.
Was surprised to still see copies in store at around 12:30p. Another friend of mine said he picked his up around 1-2pm and there were a ton at his store.
I wonder why this hasn't been a nutty race to the store like the other Marvel Steelbooks. Non-Disney?

Re: DEADPOOL: Steelbook
Seems like there are just more steelbooks available for Deadpool than there was for the Disney/Marvel titles.

Re: DEADPOOL: Steelbook
Steelbook collecting has gotten very popular. The demand is driving the studios to produce more of them but they risk people being less motivated to buy early if they remain available for extended periods of time. Kill scarcity and they will kill collectibility I can deal with the Star Wars steelbooks being plentiful. It is the only way to buy the films individually. But they likely won't ever be worth spit.

I don't really buy things like Steelbooks for collectibility or hoping they'll be worth more someday. I just buy what I think looks good and in this case I would go for the Steelbook but there's no Best Buy nearby so unless I can get one online later or something I'll just get the regular release. Personally I'd rather things like this be more widely available so it's not a wild goose chase for people wanting it to get it. I somewhat get the collector mentality but I hate being shut out on things because some asshole buys a bunch to scalp or whatever.

As Mike86 mentioned, usually it's a mad dash to Best Buy for these sort of things, with low stock or scalpers to deal with.

Usually yes. It's the same at Target. Some, like the DC Animated titles, have an extremely low print run. Others seem to be far more than the market demands. I still see some steelbooks on Target shelves months after they come out.

Re: DEADPOOL: Steelbook
Same here. At least the studios are feeding the demand which puts a major dent in the scalper's wallets. I too just like the "look" of most steelbooks over the standard packaging. I doubt they will sell for more than I paid as interest in packaged media wanes. But lets face it, we are all collectors. Scoring an out-of-print title is a bit of a rush! My dilemma is that I own two copies of some movies because often, I desire the steelbook and it doesn't contain the 3D version. What to do?—I foolishly purchase two versions of the same damn movie!

Ran to the Target by my work at lunch today and there weren't any Bluray copies left at all. Just about 20-some DVD copies.

Re: DEADPOOL: Steelbook
For Deadpool there was a tall multi-sided cardboard display near one of the registers. Almost all the blu-rays were on there , including all the exclusives. The normal displays in the back only had DVD copies. Best part was none of the exclusive blu-rays were in those plastic jails Target uses so often.

When there are title specific displays they will often not put any blu-ray in the back. I believe that is the case at the my local store with Deadpool and The Force Awakens. They were only back there the next week after the display was removed.

I wished they made the exclusive red Target snapcase for all Deadpool blu-ray releases.

Makes me glad I passed on it when it first came out. I'm glad I got the Target Exclusive instead. The Steelbook has been sold out for weeks so are they bringing in new stock?

I don't think they're bringing in new steelbooks, that's just going to be the price for their stock, regular release or steelbook (if the store still has any). Even though this thread is titled "Steelbook", it pretty much became the general thread for discussing all Deadpool home releases.

I might bite at $12.

Fox had a cool exclusive for SDCC but it's extremely limited. The first twenty-five people to buy the Blu-ray each day get a copy of the movie on VHS (the same as the one shown on Amazon on April Fools Day). I'd try getting one but it's already expensive and being so limited I doubt it'll drop.

Edit: Looks like their popping up on ebay now with ridiculous prices.

It's signed by Ryan Reynolds too which is cool but no way I'd pay the eBay prices (lowest I saw was $450).
