It's a really stupid move to release the digital only a few days early. That's what led me to buy a few movies on digital, they came out 2 weeks before the blu. But I guess once the digital is released, the torrent floodgates open, which is probably why this window is so small for this one.

This is a rare instance where I prefer the art on the standard packaging over the steelbook, so I'm cool just grabbing it at BB when I get a chance. Although, I wills say the rumored 3D release is giving me pause.. I wonder if it will have the same features/docs or will be barebones or even have different features. Sigh. They're going to milk this thing.

I got it from iTunes right at midnight ET. 1080p video was 5.9GB.
It included bonus stuff at DMA.
- Secret of TFA 1h9m long.
- Music of TFA
- Building BB-8
- ILM
and delted scenes:
- Fin will be fine.
- Finn in village
- Kylo explores Falcon.
Can't remember what else.
Can I get the bonus stuff from iTunes or they're only at DMA?

Well, BB shipped mine yesterday and I should have it in the mail tomorrow, so that's not too far behind the digital release...

The extras definitely feel like they're an appetizer, the doc is 60min and apparently pretty surface-level stuff (along with the other separate behind-the-scenes) The deleted scenes are all just short snippets it sounds like. No commentaries, etc. Went with the Steelbook, might sell for more than the standard version down the road.
But quality extras take time, so no issues with a definitive version coming later.

I usually get my Pre-orders from BB on Fri ot Sat. This time I ordered from Amazon. Even with Prime I'm sure I might get it closer to next weekend.

My steelbook arrived just now. Pretty neat. Star Wars along with Watchmen are my only steelbooks but I have Deadpool on order. Just hope this doesn't start a new collecting habit as I don't need another one of those.

there's already early word the volume level setting is on the low side (think, 'Age of Ultron') - must be a new Disney thing ... f**k 'em.

Meaning we just have to turn the volume way up to hear it properly? I have to do that with a lot of Blu Rays, damn near of all of them anyway.

Best buy is the only retailer listing a "bonus" disc yet all state it is a 3 disc set... Is best buy actually a 4 disc set?

No. We've mentioned this. There is a "bonus disc" ( as in a second Blu Ray disc containing bonus material) in the set, every set. There isn't an exclusive bonus disc in the Best Buy set.

I preordered from Amazon a while ago so it would arrive on release day on Tuesday. Since then I've ordered two other items with no-rush shipping. Got a notification yesterday that all three are in the same box and will arrive Monday, the day before release. Sounds good to me.

I hope Target continues the trend of their store exclusive bonus content being digital only in as much as it makes life easier for me because it gives me no reason to buy from them. Talk about not understanding who you think you're catering to. Physical media enthusiasts like just that, PHYSICAL MEDIA. I just wish they would have done it for Terminator Genisys and The Hateful 8 so I didn't have to do certain shady things.
The thing I really don't understand:
Studio's obviously have control over who gets what when it comes to bonus content, but do they also have a say when it comes to who gets steelbook packaging?
Theres this whole thing lately with Target getting bonus content and BB getting steelbooks and vice versa. If you are the retailer getting bonus content, are you flat out NOT ALLOWED to sell yours in a steelbook?

Thank you for confirming that Best Buy is using deceptive marketing this time.
With a thread this long, I haven't read every post and the few I did read weren't clear yet in bonus disc etc.
Again, I appreciate the confirmation.

I'm the last person here that is going to defend Best Buy, but I don't think they are using deceptive marketing. They are just telling you what's in the package. It even says "Blu Ray+DVD+Digital+Bonus Disc." They would plaster "BEST BUY EXCLUSIVE BONUS DISC" all over their ad if they were getting some sort of exclusive content. I think they are just trying to eliminate the confusion for someone coming in to look for the DVD only version and not being able to find one.

What's deceptive about saying it comes with a bonus disc? It does come with a bonus disc.
