I'm pretty sure blu-ray.com put that date up as "wishful thinking". It's not on there anymore.

I've already seen cards for TFA digital downloads (with three mini-posters) in Walmart and Bestbuy.
. "size: 10”W x 6.84”H". They're kinda cool though. |

Paying royalties on 'a whole bunch of wooden things' is probably a tad different than paying royalties on millions upon millions of DVD/BDs. ;)

The worst were the individual dvd releases where they took the original posters and made photo collages to match them. It's like they out to troll everyone who was saying they should just use the poster art.

^ Han Solo's short haircut always bothered me in that photo used on the DVD cover art.

I strongly doubt it, I don't expect it. Disney always plays new formats very, very cautiously. They don't believe in "building" new formats, they let the other studios do that for them.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th
is this going to be released in a 3D version? it has to right?

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th
Why does it have to? No official specs on it just yet.

This is why I'm holding off on prebooking, as I definitely want the 3D version, even if it means importing.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th
Were you all really impressed by the 3D on this one? There was only a couple of shots in the theater that I thought were worth the trouble.
|
Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th
Nope. In this case, not having a 3D release of this isn't a bad thing. Although that one bit showing that destroyer pop right out of the screen was pretty good, especially in IMAX. 3D didn't add much to the rest of the movie.

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th
even if it wasn't utilized effectively or as effectively as some others i would still take the option as that is my preferred choice nowadays...

Re: Star Wars: The Force Awakens - April 5th
Not for me, just because it was in 3D doesn't mean I may want it for home viewing. In fact, I'd prefer it if they gave us the IMAX scenes in their original aspect ratio over 3D. Sure it was only a scene, but at least it was shot that way.

It feels like it's a slap in the face to the cinematographer. Here's this nicely framed shot that's trying to convey a certain mood and setting - but it's destroyed because a person/object is popping out and taking total focus away from everything else. Very annoying and distracting. I initially didn't have any plans to see the film again, but I think I'll watching it again in non-3D to see all the stuff I missed. |

I'm in the same boat. It would difficult to convince myself to buy this knowing it was shown 3D. If I had to, I would have no problem importing. I've done it before, but you would think this would be a title that would get a 3D release. If any one title could invigorate 3D Blu-ray sales, it's this one.
