It's basically an "extras features" disc. Historically when stores use the term "bonus disc", it's to infer the store has an exclusive. Thus the confusion.

Theres this whole thing lately with Target getting bonus content and BB getting steelbooks and vice versa. If you are the retailer getting bonus content, are you flat out NOT ALLOWED to sell yours in a steelbook?
The studios sign exclusivity deals with each of these retailers, and negotiate with each retailer what they'll get. Best Buy requested an exclusive on the SteelBook, because SteelBooks have often sold well at their stores. Target requested an exclusive on the video supplements, because that incentive has traditionally done better with their shoppers.

Yes, the studio could grant one retailer the rights to both the SteelBook and the video supplements to put them together in one package, but apparently they make more money splitting them up this way.

And it's mainly just Disney releases that have become online only extras at Target. They still have actual discs for many other studios.

Damn, even the deleted scenes total 4 minutes, and are in an unfinished state. Piss on Lucas all you want, but he specifically said in the TPM DVD that he finished the effects for the deleted scenes, which was a nice touch.

He had to. A deleted scene from TPM with unfinished effects would have just been actors talking in front of a green screen.

Today is finally the day. Can't wait to pick mine up at Best Buy.

Looking forward to seeing feedback on the BluRay in this thread. I assume many people will try to watch all or some of it today.

I got the blu Saturday and I was giving my digital code to a friend and his kids the other day (thinking they'd be stoked to get it early) and he was all, "nah, thanks, we already got it weeks ago"... Fuckin' A, everyone's a pirate now!

Every time I have seen a store have a store exclusive, it has been touted as such. I don't see the store implying anything here. It was pretty clear to me.

I havent bought a movie in a couple of years. The day I go to Target to buy Star Wars, a guy is stealing one and being chased down by employees. Jeez just pay the $20!

Every set from every retailer is 3 discs. The only content difference is on the Target set, and that's downloadable content, not on disc.

So how does this digital extra work? Do you get to pick what service you download the movie with?

You have to redeem at Disney Movies Anywhere for the bonus content, and the bonus content can only be watched from Disney Movies Anywhere, but DMA can be synched with Vudu, iTunes, and Amazon, and the movie can also be watched from those services (just not the bonus content).

Alternatively, you can redeem the digital copy at any of those places, but you won't get the bonus content.

That's fair. I don't see myself seeing bonus content too much.

a lot of 7,1 mixes ive heard tend to be on the low side. Having a soundbar prob doesn't help much either. As most times w 7,1 tracks, the dialogue/center track seems mixed lower than usual

Anyone get the Target package yet? Is it really the Diamond Luxe magnetic packaging? What's in the exclusive bonus material?

Mine is still in the mail.

Deflated, I just left it on their kitchen counter and forgot about it.

No, it's cheap, flimsy paper sleeves - a digi-pack without an outer cover. And the exclusive bonus is online only.

gotta say...pretty damn happy i went with the traditional packaging. Amazon delivered today, right on schedule, and the slipcover and cover art is very nice. understated, yet classy. no fuss no muss...
