Yay to Deep Rising as the Mill Creek blu double feature does not exactly offer the best PQ and I am down for a re-watch of this splendidly nutso film.
Also, maybe I was too young to appreciate the dramatic scenes after the nukes were set-off but I always felt the non nuke attack parts of The Day After were slow and a bit of a slog to get through (but I was just old enough that my parents had no problem letting me watch).

A few additional titles tweeted more recently by KL:
A couple from Don Siegel:
CHARLEY VARRICK (1973)
THE BLACK WINDMILL (1974)
No release dates on either yet.
GREAT SCOUT AND CATHOUSE THURSDAY (1976) - Sept. 25
- Includes trailer gallery
THE FARMER'S DAUGHTER (1947) - Sept. 25
- Includes commentary and trailer
And finally, a new addition to The Olive Signature collection, coming August 28:
BOUND (1996)
(Most of the supplements were on Arrow's release, and possibly the original DVD as I recall (?) but they seem to have a couple of new items.

Yeah I mentioned it almost 3 months ago. Still on the same page. And you commented on it days later.

I have no memory of that. What triggered the memory was the email I just got.

It's starting to appear that the Deep Rising edition may not be from a 4K scan after all. All language that once mentioned it being from a 4K scan has been removed. I've canceled my pre-order since I still have the Mill Creek version.

Blu-Ray.com reviewed it and yeah no mention of a new 4K picture. He gave the video a 3.5 out of 5. He said it looked alright.

Hmm... I think Kino Lorber Studio Classics still needs to learn historical products lesson #1:
Just because it's old does not mean it's a classic.

Have both of those on laserdisc already. Wonder if they'll mess up the sound like they did on a few previous Touchstone etc titles?

Twenty year nostalgia cycle.
Kids bonded with these twenty years ago and are now late twenties-mid thirties adults with disposable income and some lingering fondness for a more innocent/carefree period they remember.
Yeah, they'll sell enough to make it worth the effort for Kino - considering they were always just along for the ride with higher profile titles anyway.
