I'm just wondering how well their 3D releases are doing in Europe and Asia since they keep releasing them there.
Why bother when they can sell a "limited" karaoke version at Christmas, then save the 3D for, I dunno, the sequel (or for when they can include that short which will be in Cinderella).

BONUS FEATURES (Digital HD/SD*, Blu-ray Combo Pack & Disney Movies Anywhere (DMA)):
- Feast Theatrical Short

- The Origin Story of Big Hero 6: Hiro’s Journey (hosted by Jamie Chung, voice of Go Go Tomago) – Join the team behind the team that brought Big Hero 6 to the big screen as they travel on research trips to Tokyo and San Francisco and go behind the scenes of this epic film. Explore everything comic-book about Big Hero 6, from director Don Hall’s passion for comics to the story’s roots in a lesser known Marvel property. We’ll talk to Marvel’s Joe Quesada and Jeph Loeb, who were consultants on the film, to learn what makes a good comic-book story, and how these devices were used to help create Disney’s Big Hero 6.

- Big Animator 6: The Characters Behind the Characters - Join the six lead animators of Big Hero 6 as they talk about each of the characters and how they came to be the heroes they are now.

- Deleted Scenes (intro by Directors Don Hall & Chris Williams) – Includes two alternate openings and more.

- Big Hero Secrets (Easter Egg) – The movie is filled with Easter Eggs, and this Buzzfeed-type list piece will give you a sampling of some of the hidden treasures in the film. See if you can find this Easter Egg about Easter Eggs! (BLU-RAY ONLY)

- Gag Animations (intro by Directors Don Hall & Chris Williams) - For fun, animators made alternate versions of scenes they were working on and threw them into the mix at review sessions. The directors will present some of these gags for the first time to the public in this piece. (DMA ONLY)

- Beatmax - Check out some of Baymax’s greatest lines auto-tuned like you’ve never heard before. (DMA ONLY)

What the hell is up with the last extra being DMA only? Shit, they're migrating to everything being digital only.

Sounds like your basic featurettes on there. Oh well, I'm no longer big on features these days either so I guess Disney knows what they're doing. 3D or packed extras aren't going to make a big difference on purchases, so might as well go cheap on these releases.

Is 3D bigger abroad than it is here (or at least in demand enough to demand more of a premium or something)? Otherwise I don't get it.

Home media in general is. There seems to be more thought and care in to foreign markets than there is for releases here in the states.

I used to think that maybe Europe was an intellectual oasis or something. Then I saw that Battlefield Earth was on Blu-ray there .

It is? I'll buy it if it's the theatrical version.

Japan has always had the best media releases- AND they still have Tower Records over there!

Re: 'Big Hero 6' (Feb. 24th)

Nothing listed by them at this time. But considering they have released one for just about every new Disney release, I'm guessing they will for this movie - and in 3D.

Guardians of the Galaxy was their last 3D release.

Although Marvel is now owned by Disney, it's still managed separately.

I will go that route if they do, just as I did with Frozen.

according to Amazon (Canada) the audio is 7.1 surround - let's see if it's the same for the US version.

Re: 'Big Hero 6' (Feb. 24th)

Are they just doing the digital 3D like they did with Frozen. I'll still pick up the blu for this but may have to try to talk my parents into picking it up on Vudu in 3D since their LG is 3D.

Disney has given up on Blu-ray 3D in the American market. It may be available on that format overseas, however.

I know the U.S. was not given a 3D blu but it was released through sites like Vudu for digital purchase and rental in 3D, so I didn't if Big Hero 6 was going to get the same treatment. It is available for pre-order on Vudu but not for 3D as of yet.
