That was definitely my plan before I was thwarted by low inventory.

As of yesterday afternoon my local Future Shop still had dozens of the steel books. The website shows all local stores still have it available as well.

Guess it pays to live in Canada, at least when it comes to getting one's hand on LE blu-ray packaging.

You guys also got all the cool Disney DVD steelbooks back in 2007-2008, when all we got were exclusive plushes or shit like that.

Yeah, you can keep your LE packaging and your tundra weather, I'll stick with my Southern California weather and less prevalent LE packaging.

Ugh, so Canada has a crapload of copies and the US...none. And copies on Ebay for $60 a pop. That's what I get for working the last two weeks through lunch for. I did send my wife to a Best Buy on Tuesday, and she got there about noon only to find them all sold out. Oh well, hopefully a copy shows up for $25-$30 in one of the resale shops here. (doubt this too though)

Director Ryan Nicholson over at Plotdigger Films' (based out of Canada) FB page, used it to sell extra copies of the Best Buy Steelbook.

What's hilarious is they asked for offers and offered a better price to anyone who helped finance their next film via IndieGoGo.

Fuck scalping

I must be in the minority here, but I actually have no interest in the steelbook version and actually want the slipcase releases. From what I've seen so far though, it looks as though Canada didn't get those. :(

What the fuck

Best Buy shipping really sucks!

My copy was shipped on Friday and it has still not arrived. They use that stupid UPS to USPS crap. Tracking shows it was here in Milwaukee on Monday, but yesterday it was sent to the wrong post office according to the tracking info!

I count 22 copies. This guy is a dick and Best Buy is to blame for not having a limit on exclusive products.

You're assuming he doesn't have 21 close friends that he is selling them to at cost. ;)

Have no idea why they can't implement the same one per customer logic that was being used on the website.

They don't care, they got their money and sold out stock. And an employee is not going to care enough to deal with a confrontation with someone who thinks they are entitled to everything.

You're fucked any which way you go. Don't preorder-sold out in stores. Preorder/ship- great big chance of being damaged, can't replace. Preorder/pick up- they don't hold one or it's damage and can't be replaced.

BB is eroding customer goodwill (as if they had that much left). It doesn't matter that they sell out here. If people think they'll let anyone swoop in and snatch up every copy, they'll be less inclined to think of patronizing the store in the future since any exclusive premium isn't likely to be there by the time they get there anyway.
Bad and very short sighted policy.

Exactly. When I picked up my pre-ordered copy on Tusday it was the first time I had been in a BB store in over 6 months. And given what I saw and experienced that day, it will likely be even longer until my next visit. They are simply a disaster in every way. Compare that to a time in the past when I shopped at BB more than any other store like it.

This. From someone who's worked in retail I can honestly say that people seem to think they are so entitled that even if you put limits on something, they either find a way around it, or piss and moan till they get what they want.

Since we're bitching about Best Buy's policies raping us a-la Lucas...

I'll ever so briefly change the subject and say, at least the picture quality and sound are fantastic. The 3D is actually really good as well.

For those more interested in the movie...

Yeah, I'm surprised people here care this much about a steelbook - I thought that was more of a blu-ray-forum thing.

It was the best case, I stopped by 2 BBs release day looking for one but both were sold out (at noon).

I had to settle for the Rocket case from Wal-Mart (slipped over a 3D copy of the movie and pm'd to BB).
