Vincent Price Collection II in October.
Bluray.com reveals part 2 of the Vincent Price Collection. The Last Man on Earth, The RAVEN, Tomb of Ligea, Return of the Fly, Comedy of Terrors, and another Dr. Phebes movie. Not as excited about this one as I was the first time. But i'll get it anyway. The first set must have sold pretty well, to add another volume.

This is what I have been waiting for since they released the first volume. It will be interesting to see what elements they dig up for The Last Man on Earth, a movie in the public domain. Hopefully they got access to the studio's transfer.

Re: Vincent Price Collection II in October.
I have the first three on DVD and I'm not dying to own the rest.
I'll pass unless the extras are good enough to justify what will surely be a hefty price tag.

Re: Vincent Price Collection II in October.
The real question mark is what they will be digging up for HoHH as the original elements are still with Warner.
Kind of a scattershot collection. Even though I like LMoE and HoHH more than any of the other films here, I think I would have preferred to see these remain strictly AIP collections which would cut out HoHH and the fly sequel.
Honestly, this is only a mildly compelling set- any enthusiasm is less because of the films themselves (the Phibes sequel is particularly disappointing in relation to the original) and more because the options for material other than 80's-90's Halloween themed fare seems to be so distressingly limited this year- at least in Region A.
France is supposed to be getting Badham's Dracula in September. I'm sure the UK will see more of the Universal Hammer's (like Curse of The Werewolf) that we will only be getting in a DVD re-release here.
Happier than ever I finally went region free (even though I just got my CC bill in for the Oppo and all those import orders...*ouch*)

Re: Vincent Price Collection II in October.
I won't even consider buying that movie again unless the original color is restored. I recently picked up the movie on DVD to fill in the gaps in my Dracula film collection, and I was shocked at how bad it looked.
I understand the director's intent; he wanted to shoot the film in black and white and was denied, but he got the chance to drain the colors from the DVD release to correspond to his original vision. But it just looks awful. I've seen other movies that were shot in color but desaturated to make it look almost as if they were shot in black and white, and it's been done much better. The altered version of Badham's Dracula just looks wrong from start to finish, like something's off with your TV settings.

Re: Vincent Price Collection II in October.
I just pre-ordered the set at Amazon. I figure it's better to pre-order this because as the first set did- the price will increase over time.

Re: Vincent Price Collection II in October.
Based on the list of films provided in Collection #1 that had the Iowa Public Television Introductions, 8 of them are included in Collection #s 1 & 2.
The other 4 that are not in one of these collections, which should hold a firm place in a possible Collection #3, are:
Tales of Terror
Scream and Scream Again
Master of the World
An Evening of Edgar Allan Poe

It's already increased from $55 (when I ordered) to $69.99! Amazon these days doesn't keep those pre order sale prices for long it seems.

They know a cheap pre-order price will draw traffic when people post it on forums such as this one. I'll wait until after it gets released, Scream Factory has a habit of dumping their BD sets through some retailer at some point.

Re: Vincent Price Collection II in October.
Groupon had a deal for $39.98 just a few weeks after the first volume was released.
Nothing here that I'm in a huge hurry for, so I'll contentedly wait for a similar deal on this one.

Re: Vincent Price Collection II in October.
Reviews are starting to trickle in and it looks like a good set A/V wise.
The big surprise is HoHH is licensed from Warner. Since the print on their DVD release looked first rate, I've no doubt it looks great on this set.
I was content to let this one slide for a while, but after reading these first reviews I'm starting to hope there is a good deal on it sooner rather than later.

Re: Vincent Price Collection II in October.
Based on one review, the three commentaries are on the Tomb of Ligeia disc. One is not listed on the back. It does look like they dropped the Raven commentary. Also, The Comedy of Terrors still has a missing shot that was also a problem with the Midnite Movies disc. It's always something with Scream.

Re: Vincent Price Collection II in October.
With Tales of Terror coming out on blu-ray next month from Kino, do you think it's a safe bet it will not be in a Collection 3, if it is ever done?
I'd hate to have to doubledip.
BTW, since it was asked about earlier, I did notice Kino is also putting out The Premature Burial in May. It doesn't have Vincent Price, but is the one Roger Corman AIP picture without Price.

Re: Vincent Price Collection II in October.
That would be a real shame. Tales of Terror was one the films in the series with the Iowa Public Television introductions. I'd hate to not have those segments. Maybe, even if they can't license the film, Shout Factory would include that footage as an extra in Collection #3.
