I did that before contacting Amazon directly. Not sure if it will work, or how long Amazon.ca will have the boxset 47% off. I wonder if the folks at Amazon.com are contacting their northern brothers going "what's the deal, eh?"

Users over at blu-ray.com are freaking out over packaging. Danielle Harris posted a pic of her set, which shows the discs come in black eco-cases. Not a dealbreaker for me by a long shot, but I do hate those cheap, shitty cases.

I have never given a shit about cases. As long as the movie works, I'm good.

I'd prefer not to have the Eco cases but whatever. They're by no means a deal breaker.

Eco-cases are better than cardboard sleeves.

Did they get Danielle Harris to quit twitter yet over stupid questions about packaging? She was going to get bombarded by these nerds.

Well, when you save up your allowance for months to buy a Blu-Ray set of movies that you have to be 17 or older to watch I could see being mad about black Eco cases.

I'm more concerned about the outer box being damaged during shipping than these eco-cases. The cases can be replaced easily.

They got one thing right…this is how I feel about people bitching and moaning about cases and slipcovers:

Re: Halloween: The Complete Collection is coming to blu-ray

success! I tried the chat method again ... got a different agent .. here is how it went

Me:I have never requested (or received) a price adjustment on an item .. can you help?

hi Cathy

Cathy A.:Hello, my name is Cathy

Me:hi

Cathy A.:I am sorry you did not receive that yet. Yes, which item please?

Me:this is the item I want to order

http://www.amazon.com/Halloween-Complet...(See full link)

but your Canadian affiliate has the same item for $85.93 USD

http://www.amazon.ca/Halloween-Complete...(See full link)

could I please get a one-time price adjustment?

Cathy A.:That is unusual. Let me research a little more please. One minute.

Me:I understand that it is not your normal policy, but I have never asked before

Cathy A.:If you can order it right now, I will adjust the price for you.

I placed the order - they adjusted .. all is right in the world

They can buy replacement black Viva Elite cases if they're that concerned about it. Jeez. That forum.

Especially considering this is in a box, so there's even less chance of any damage happening due to the eco cases.

It's not because they're black, it's because they're eco-cases. Despite the fact that it's not worth spending more than half a second worrying about such things, eco-cases do in fact suck.

Because they are eco cases. The kids freak out about it because they've saved up their allowance for months and by getting those cases it's like the Blu-ray group took money out of their pocket.

It's a case. It's been the norm now for what, 5 years?

Overall, it's a really cheap look set (ignoring the eco cases). But of normal sized BD cases in a box? Seems very rushed and ugly.

I thought this too. I don't care either since I'm paying under $100. Now if they had done this like the Herzog set then the price would have doubled and you would still have people complaining about it.

Seems very rushed? Including two (well, technically, three) discs of the same movie seems rushed? Nah, surely you jest.

I dunno the box set isn't anything fancy but I sort of don't mind it being simple. I like that each film has a separate case with the original artwork. Unless packaging is really terrible or non-functionality I usually don't care too much.

I like fancy packaging as much as the next guy but when it comes down to it, in the end simple packaging usually wins out for ease of grabbing a movie off the shelf.

As much as I like packages like Game of Thrones or Band of Brothers, they really become a hassle when you're changing out discs. You either need to get on your hands and knees and unfold it on the floor or need a cleared off table.

Being able simply slide a case out of the box and open it to get the disc wins out for me.
