Pictures from the world premiere of the missing pieces. There's a bunch, so it's probably easier just to follow the link.

Then again, this new version was "approved by the director", so get ready for another debate over theatrical version versus "director's intent".
Oh well, at least the actual transfer looks sharp. The advantage of having two versions that look so different is now I don't have to worry about trying to sell my French copy.

Assuming we can trust the DVDBeaver screencaps (which isn't a given), the MK2 transfer appears to have too much green while the new transfer has too much red and the contrasts are a little too bright.

I have the French Blu-ray - guess I'll be hanging on to it. I saw FIRE WALK WITH ME several times in the theater, and my recollection is that the French Blu-ray is closer to what the film looked like. Especially that shot of Chester Desmond, which looks way too bright on the new version. The green doesn't bother me that much but the contrast messes up the skin tone which bothers me a lot. It makes everyone look sickly/ill.

So what's everyone's plan for those picking this up on Tuesday - watch everything in order, or jump straight to the 90 deleted minutes from FWWM and the other brand-new bonuses?
As anxious as I am about seeing that footage, I'm going to savor this set and start at the beginning and work my way through from the beginning (meaning it will probably be a few weeks before I finally get to the "fun" stuff).

Re: Twin Peaks - Series & Fire Walk With Me
It's been so long since I last watched the show. I tried a few years ago (when I tried to host a series of threads about it in TV Talk here... and failed miserably because I'm terrible), but this set and my recent visit to Snoqualmie Falls has renewed my excitement for the show.
I'll be watching from the pilot through the entire series, then FWWM, then finally the 90 deleted minutes. It's super tempting to jump straight to the "new" stuff, but it'll be far more rewarding after re-watching everything again.
I recently found out that my wife only watched through Season 1 and a few episodes of 2 (until the big reveal) and FWWM. She hasn't seen the majority of Season 2 at all. This should be interesting...

I plan on watching Fire Walk With Me first and then the deleted scenes. It has been awhile since I have seen the film. The TV series I have watched every October since it first came out on VHS.

Not sure if the few SD features are in PAL or NTSC (probably NTSC for the sake of printing simplicity), but it's available from Amazon UK for about ~$78 shipped. Ratings logos are on the discs, but apparently the ones on the box itself are removable stickers.
