It's naive to suggest that Disney is unaware of the unanimously-negative reaction to the configurations they decided to release. They also know how many copies retailers have ordered from them, and they only announced the $5.99 mailaway after people had been bitching for weeks.

Who ever said Disney was naive in thinking there'd be backlash? It's just premature to say it's "biting them in the ass" when the movie hasn't even been released yet. It seems a tad over-dramatic. That's not to say they won't change course on future releases, but besides the the mail-away program have numbers been released on pre-orders or something?

Actually they announced the $5.99 promotion at the same time they officially announced the blu-ray with a press release. It's just that Amazon had the pic before the official press release in the same manner they haven't officially announced Iron Man 3.

I remember when people were posting negative reviews for Blu-ray pre-orders like Horrible Bosses and other titles on Amazon when they saw it was coming with Ultraviolet instead of an actual digital copy. Warner has continued with Ultraviolet.

Gizmo speaks the truth, "Crappy Value" is a great description.

I would have loved to buy this if was not for Disney greed and thinking we are really stupid.

Bring on IRON 3, I will buy that.

If anybody, who bought the Blu/DVD combo, has no interest in the 3D copy, and would be willing to give up their code to order the 3D copy, please let me know. Thanks.

$20.15 total. $14.16 out the door at Target with Wal-Mart ad and Scott's coupon.

Might be tough, I think the 3D copy is linked to the same code for Disney Movie Rewards and the Digital Copy.

For me, $20.02 total - $14.03 from Wal-Mart plus the $5.99 for the 3D. Only a good deal because of the $7 coupon. I hope this is a one time thing, going through these hoops just to get the full 3D combo.

Digital Copy redemption and DMR point redemption have always been separate (i.e. 2 different people can use the same code for those two redemptions).

The 3D copy offer is probably presented after redeeming the DMR points, so he just needs to find someone who doesn't want the DMR points.

I agree. If someone wants the points and the digital copy, just doesn't care for the 3D, but would be willing to order it for me, I would pay a little extra.
I bought the Blu Ray only edition, because I don't care for the combo cover art and I don't need the DVD. But this version does not allow you to order a 3D disc.
Thanks a lot Disney!

The DMR code is also linked to Lone Ranger movie cash, so you'd also have to be willing to give that up.

Re: Disney splitting up Blu Ray & Blu Ray 3D releases?

So I entered the DMR code to get the 3D version, and I got an error saying they can't calculate the tax at this time? WTF?

Weird, I'm in Texas where just about everything I buy on the Interwebs has tax, yet when I did the promo on the DMR site, they didn't charge me tax. Total was $5.99.

I'll say again that I don't mind having the 2D version not included, but that just makes the price they're asking for the 3D disc that much more unreasonable. Really wanted to get this but no sale for now.

As an update, Oz is no longer showing as region free. Guess that rules that one out.

Ah, good! Amazon UK has it listed incorrectly. Strange that they changed their listing considering it was initially correct.

Thanks Giles!

FYI : Redeemed DMR points and ordered 3D disc from my 2D combo code on June 30. Got my 3D disc (and new DMR code) today, July 5th. Pretty damn fast. Glad I was able to get a full set. Hope they never try this crap again.

They sent the 3D disc to me in a paper sleeve inside a thin cardboard envelope. No new code, just the disc.

Yeah, there was a code insert folded into the shipping invoice. At least there was for me. It's only 50 points, FWIW

and the 3D was lackluster at best, will buy it to support the combo packs as they are supposed to be released, but the 3D is no where as good as Monster Inc's conversion.

This I will purchase with my hard earned money.

Still have not and will not buy Disney "OZ" movie, they treated us like we are dumb sheep, my vote is NO with my wallet.

Blu-Ray sales:
Oz the Great and Powerful
Total BR sold = 471,861
Total BR $$$ = $13,207,389

Do not have DVD totals yet

It seems that Disney's plan has backfired, though the movie did well at the Boxoffice it was NOT in the league of IronMan.
