Chuck -- The Complete Series -- Coming October 30th

When the show was "on the bubble" multiple times and threatened with cancellation, fans cried out for more, and the network listened! We got FIVE glorious seasons as a result. Then, when the fifth and last season came out on DVD and Blu-ray earlier this year, fans cried out for a "complete" release of the entire show's run...and now the studio has listened! Warner Home Video has today announced that Chuck - The Complete Series will be available on Blu-ray Disc and DVD starting October 30th. The good news for fans who bought the separate season sets all along is that there's nothing they are missing by being loyal along the way: the new gift set has the same content as the previous individual releases, just slid into a slip case for the sake of unity (no, sorry, we've heard nothing about the slip case being offered separately, and we don't expect to). Cost will be $149.98 SRP for the DVD set, and $179.98 SRP for the high-def Blu version. Below is package art, front and rear, for the BD set and then the DVD set. Check it out:

Artwork is on the link.

I have seasons 1-3 on DVD and 4 and 5 on BD. So this is an obvious pass for me.

Big pass since all I need is the last season. And the fact that it's just a bundled package of the individual seasons is enough to not care at all about this. I love the show, I wish they would have put just an ounce of effort in putting in some additional content. Or maybe remaster the ugly ass picture quality.

Yeah, good news for folks that bought the seasons as they were released.

Isn't that how the show was shot?

I figured they would have went back and upgraded the video for season 1... as that was a very weak HD presentation on the Blu .. it almost looked like it was an SD upconvert.. kinda glad they didn't.. so I don't feel the need to re-buy it..

Loved the show, disliked the presentation on Blu. My son has the DVD's and I should have just stuck with those. They were cheaper and I could take them with me on business trips. We already have all five seasons in both formats so I don't need this set, but glad to see it's not being forgotten

Yep, I have all the seasons in a bix of DVD and blue formats, so it is a pass for me as well. To be honest, if there had been new content I am not too convinced that I would have gotten this anyway.

I guess now that I think about it, I have a mix of formats as well:

1: BD
2, BD, DVD, Amazon video, couple random eps on itunes
3, BD, DVD
4. DVD
5. BD

I started out buying BD, picked up 2/3 on DVD for traveling purposes when they were on sale, got 4 on DVD cheap, finished with 5 on BD. I agree that this is one of the least-impressive BD presentations and probably would have been fine with DVD, except it would seem like a betrayal of my nerdiness.

Don't the first two or three seasons have dolby digital audio only? If they gave us lossles audio, cleaned up the picture and had an alternate ending to the final episode that didn't ruin 5 years of awesome I would pick this up.

It was shot on 16 mm film because of budget limitations, so there's only so much they can do.

Re: Chuck -- The Complete Series -- Coming October 30th

Anyone know if the Complete Series comes with digital copy for all seasons in HD? Thanks.

No. It's just the individual seasons packed together none of them had digital copies.

FWIW, the entire series can be streamed on Prime video for free in HD if you're a member. You don't need to buy it. Unless you plan to watch it in 2045.

Re: Chuck -- The Complete Series -- Coming October 30th

Season 5 came with a digital copy.

Currently watching it with my kids on BD. I don't think the stream looks as good as the BD. But as Djariya said, the HD isn't great to begin with. That being said, Amazon is more convenient so that wins out.

Also, unsure if Amazon has the 3D episode. Although, IIRC that might have been a first pressing "limited" thing.

I never knew whether that episode was in true 3D on the disc or if they did the red and blue style or just 2D. I have an old DirecTV receiver in my spare room that actually still has the original broadcast recorded on it. It's the oldest thing on there.

It wasn’t the good stuff. At least the first run (apparently it was dropped from later pressings?) came with anaglyph glasses. I have to admit that I don’t remember which version I have. It’s presented as an extra on the last disc rather than a regular episode.
