Look... The Sopranos will happen, but HBO isn't under the gun to release that show, unlike titles that will (likely) fade away in people minds, such as Entourage, Treme, Bored to Death, etc.

Personally, I wouldn't be stunned if we see Big Love before The Sopranos.

I suspect you didn't read my second paragraph. In the first paragraph I used the movies as general examples of how blurays drop in price pretty quickly across the board. In the second paragraph I discuss the amount of content, and compare the price with Mad Men season sets, which have more content (being a longer show) and are more current (it's still on the air) and they do go for $15 or less per season.

HBO tried not once but twice with The Sopranos and both times sales were poor.

But on those surveys HBO keeps doing in those slips that come in the sets, that is still a common question about Sopranos. So it looks like they're still gauging consumer reception about doing the whole series. I'm thinking they will at some point, just don't know when.

"The Sopranos" is the one crown jewel that HBO still has that hasn't made the jump to blu-ray (with the exception for "Sex and the City" - but I think the demand for that one is considerably lower) and I have a feeling they will be saving it for when they don't have that many releases in a given quarter and when blu-ray has mainstreamed more. They tried twice and got burned when Blu-ray was a new technology - I think they are just bidding their time.

And an "Entourage" set makes sense because they only have to re-do half the amount of footage and it's a good market test for the movie they are thinking about financing.

Is this show really worth the blu-ray?

Thanks, was trying to decide between the complete sets and opted for the blus.

Re: Entourage: The Complete Series - November 6th

I was shopping for it last night online and found the entire series new on blu-ray listed listed on Half.com for around $107 + shipping. I am not fond of the latter 2-3 seasons (6-8), and thought the comedy was really lacking later on so I wasn't going to spring for the entire series. I ended up getting individual seasons 1-5 on DVD used for around $30 total shipped.
