Criterion Collection + B&N 50% Off = What did you get?

As most of you know...

Barnes & Noble is currently having their 50% Criterion Collection film sale at all B&M and online shops -- Early on a lot of consumers made out exceptionally well with B2G1F sales as well as added discounts due to being a valued card member.

I thought it would be fun to have people post up comments or images/video's of their hauls...

If you would like to gloat on what you paid that would be great to see what others are paying as well as bragging rights!

I've already purchased 18 films in 3 days and I'm heading out to score some more after lunch -- I'll be posting up pictures and pricing information later on.

Thanks, arbogast777.

But the discussion post is for generally letting people know about the sale and posting up coupon codes that are used as fast as they are posted. (side note of hilarity)

No, the discussion post in the bargain forum is for discussion of all aspects of the Criterion sale. That's why you have so many people in there listing exactly what they bought. By your rationale, we should have an ongoing thread in this forum about what people have bought at Amazon. Should we also start a thread here when DeepDiscount has a sale? HD Talk is NOT the place for discussion of sales. If you want to gloat about the Blu-ray that you just bought and feel the thread in the bargains forum isn't good enough, you can also go here as well.

Might go back and get the Samurai Trilogy and Shallow Grave. I seem to be less enthusiastic about the sale this time.

I've gone to 3 physical locations and Rushmore was gone at all three. I also had a problem with finding Gojira -- So the last one I went to ended up going to (which was closest to the house) I decided to go ahead and put a order in for both...

That was 3 days ago. I'm hoping it will be in while I'm on vacation this week.

Is it because you've gotten most of the titles you've wanted in prior sales or from lack of interesting titles?

With me, I haven't been in the market for Criterion's for over 3 years... I've gotten a promotion with my job and have a bit more disposable income to expand on a hobby that I wouldn't have been able to otherwise.

So right now its pretty much catch up.

Thanks, BuckNaked2k.

I've been scratching for a couple other titles that weren't available at the time of visit...

I also talked to a couple of the staffers and they mentioned having a stash of stuff that they were holding off the sales floor until payday. For some this would irritate - for me this one of the incentives for working at a location. (profiteering is another story all together)

A couple of the female employees found it funny how much the guys at the locations were going nuts for these sales.

I find these types of sales as a perfect conversation piece to engage in with the employee's to gage how sales are without picking up trade mags.

The personal approach is always more rewarding.

That's another reason why I don't like ordering online when a sale is available at a B&M location.

Hey guys, just a heads up on this...

I went to purchase a few more titles this evening and was wondering why my copy of Godzilla had yet to arrive. I was told by the attendant that my order was cancelled!

She informed me that there was two locations in town that had copies and called ahead. But while checking for availability she noticed that there was a return to warehouse order placed on this title...

I had her hold the title at the other location and hurried over to snag it up.

The employee (who was a department head) said he seen the same memo placed and was getting ready to pull them off the shelf before the Polaris store called...

Not sure what the deal with this is or if something has changed with this sale and the inclusion list.

Anyone have any connections regarding this?

Part of it is that I have most of the blu-ray titles that I want, and I really don't want to bother with the dvds at this point. Most of what I would want to get would either be either double dips, and as much as I like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and Videodrome, the only Criterion I feel like upgrading right now is the Samurai Trilogy, which is by far one of the worst releases Criterion has put out.

But the biggest reason is that I currently have 21 Criterions in my "To Watch" pile, and2 of those are boxsets. Part of me feels that I should watch what I have first.

I picked up 39 Steps and Gimmie Shelter as soon as the sale hit (and got Jean Vigo, Godzilla, and Summer W/ Monika in the B2G1 sale just prior).
Had them set aside a big handful of other titles that I was just going to get around to picking up this week- when I decided to take an inventory of what Criterion Bds I own and haven't watched yet.
there are 43 of them- including multi film boxsets. And that's just Bd. There's probably another good dozen at least on DVD waiting too.

I was getting enthused to investigate World On A Wire, Harold And Maude, and My Life As A Dog...but unless I watch a few more in the next week, I can't in good conscience pick anything else up.

I completely understand - for awhile in 2009 I was getting blu-rays for about $1.00 over cost and it was really bad for awhile with the amount of titles that were in my watch list...

It got to the point of where I wasn't completely done with my list about 8 months ago. The 'For Sale' list now is ... well, it's just ridiculous.

I wonder what was the issue? (Or lack there of?)
