The Digital Bits

Now... here's something new: Retail sources are telling us to expect Lionsgate to release The Hunger Games on Blu-ray and DVD in the U.S. on 8/18. Expect an official announcement soon. There will be multiple SKUs and editions, including discs only, discs plus bonus swag and Target and Walmart retail exclusive versions as well. Expect several retailers to hold "Twilight like midnight release party" events around the country. Sounds like they're going to make a pretty big deal out of this one.

Not sure. If they haven't, this would be an ideal choice since this is easily their biggest film ever. And it sounds like we're getting multiple versions, so they're going to milk it dry.

No commentary track or deleted scenes? That sucks.

Not sure if I want to buy this now or wait for the inevitable box set once all three are out.

Re: The Hunger Games - 8/18/12

The only thing that would get me to buy an exclusive would be some kind of different cut of the film, which is highly unlikely.

Typically, I would spend a little bit more for a better looking cover of a film I really wanted like this, but since I know that I'm going to be selling them/trading them or giving them away when the boxset comes out, I'll probably just look for the best price.

You don't think this is going to be the film's only release, do you?

I would love something including Jennifer Lawrence's version of "Rue's Lullaby" as an mp3 download.

Showed up in my Gold Box picks for an extra 5% off so I bit. This was confusing, though:

FREE Two-Day Shipping --get it on its release day: Monday, August 20.

Yep, this was a good movie. A bit of a remake of Stephen King's Running Man. But I will buy it.

Which was a bit of a remake of 1932's The Most Dangerous Game.
