I wasn't sure I'd get this right away, but the regular edition was pretty cheap so I went with that one.

A friend of mine called this morning and said she had the same issue. Luckily there was another display with a couple that weren't Spider Tagged.

The regular Blu-ray was good enough for me; as someone that spends less and less time watching special features, the 3 disc version at Target didn't seem like it was worth it for $5 more.

My wife forced told me to purchase the edition with "more Hutcherson."

Thanks! That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure what was so bad about them.

Re: The Hunger Games - 8/18/12

I was in a Super Target this am. They must have had about 60 copies of the exclusive. None of them had spider wrap or plastic cases on them. I was shocked because this store would put spider wrap on bubble gum if they made mini versions of it.

Yea, no kidding: The Trilogy of The Hobbit. The shortest book has become the longest movie.

Great film, I've had a few blind-buy fails recently and this one made up for it!

None of mine had spider-wrap either...but I'd rather stick with my $18.99 Amazon copy. Shame Amazon couldn't get it to me on release date.

The last book is definitely going to be split up. I know a lot of people are complaining about it, but if you have read the book, you'd probably understand. There is, at least, two books worth of stuff packed in there. I get confused, sometimes, remembering some scenes from Mockingjay that I thought happened in Catching Fire just because so much happened, it's hard to believe it was all in one book. Mockingjay does have some good breaking points to split the story into two parts. Catching Fire is almost like, to me, the first act of Mockingjay, with the Hunger Games being a setup story. That may sound weird, but Mockingjay is just that big, and I don't see how they could cut much of it out. Hunger Games was full of a lot of Katniss's thoughts to fill the book. Catching Fire has a lot of filler in the first half or so of the book (not bad, as it gives you more of Katniss's thoughts and how things work for the victors and there is some build-up to things going on in the Disctricts). They're all great for the story, but could easily be condensed on film. But Mockinjay has a lot more action and a lot going on. Some of it can probably be condensed, but not much of it.

Re: The Hunger Games - 8/18/12

You know, I can recall when movies like The Hunt for Red October would come out and everybody would complain about all the stuff left out from the book. So the movie studios come up with a partial patch and all people can do is bitch about the studios "milking" the franchise.

What do you people want?

My reaction exactly. A new franchise for the Twilight crowd.

After seeing The Hunger Games at a press screening, I remember walking out actually enjoying it, but not to the magnitude that so many people have hyped it up to be. I haven't read the books, but what I've heard, the remainder of the trilogy feels a lot like Twilight. Hopefully they're wrong, because another Twilight is the last thing Hollywood needs.

The book(s) are a lot better then the movie. The movie is ok, but I think most of the hype came from the popularity of the books.

I think the main difference with Twilight (and it's a pretty big one for me) is that there is some semblance of plot going on that's important enough for it not to be all about the love triangle.

isn't that the case w/ these new popular books made into movies in the past 10 years?

And even if it was about the love triangle, Hunger Games still has the edge since the leads are actually attractive.

They want a single, six-hour movie, obviously.

Yes, the biggest appeal/difference is the political aspect. It's only teased at in the first book, grows some in the second book, and goes all out in the third (and most different from the rest) book.
