There seems to be more and more non-region A BDs that I would love to own, so I'm starting to consider getting a region-free player. Basically, I'm looking for something that would be at least the same quality as my current player (Sony BDP-S470), it must be able to do Netflix, and of course I'd like it to be as cheap as possible

I noticed that Monoprice recently started selling a blu-ray player. In the description they state that the software is open to "full customization" by "tech savvy" owners. Not sure if this is implying it is region hackable?
