Christine on bluray is available for preorder for $16.99, kinda makes me not want to ever pay TT $35 for a blu again...

It has been ages since I looked at the Twilight Time FB page, or the Screen Archives Entertainment site, so I received a pleasant surprise just now when I noticed that they are reissuing Mysterious Island (one of their early release quick sell-outs) this December.

Sure. Best Buy has a display of Sony titles in the store called the Save Station. Almost once every few months they run a buy one get one sale. The great thing is that the titles are priced at $9.99. So basically you get two titles for $10.
Now it might take a while for the price point of Christine to hit at $9.99 but it will probably happen.
There is a small chance that this title could also be on sale during the holidays.

I agree most of the newly announced titles haven't really wow'd me as must owns. I do plan on getting 'Strange Invaders', 'Sense and Sensibility', 'Born Free', 'Mysterious Island' (if there are new extras), and 'Captain Harlock Space Pirate'

So will the Vampires preorder be announced soon, and if so will I have to do it right when it goes up?

Re: The Official Twilight Time Blu-ray Thread
If this were two years ago, I would have expected Vampires to sell out within 72 hours of release. The horror market is over loaded these days by nearly a dozen different labels catering to it on Blu-ray. Twilight Time's pricing structure isn't particularly competitive in today's market and that makes a difference.
It probably will still sell out relatively quickly but I wouldn't bank on it becoming a hot item on the secondary market. Now that Sony has shown they will eventually release their own BD of a popular Twilight Time release, all bets are off.

Yeah, the fact that Christine is coming out directly through Sony pretty much devalued TT's version. Hell, Arrow Films and their version of Zardoz pretty much devalued TT's version, because these are now readily available. That's if you're a reseller. I am not but since I already own the TT versions of both those films there's really no reason to but Sony and Arrow's versions.
The question now is: to buy or not to buy TT's version of Vampires? I have the French version on BD but apparently (according the BD forum) it's compromised.

With that said, Twilight Time's copy of Zardoz has been out for five months and has not sold out. I suspect that there wasn't as much demand for this title as they anticipated when they set the production run at 5,000 copies.

Re: The Official Twilight Time Blu-ray Thread
Assuming you are talking about John Carpenter's Vampires, pre-order goes live on September 30th, I believe the time is 4pm eastern. Also going live on pre-order at the same time is a movie I'm interested in called Black Widow. But something tells me to wait on that one (like next year's sale) and just stick with Vampires which I think has a good chance of selling out.

I believe the Arrow disc is locked to Region B. While certain fans with region-free Blu-ray players may opt to go that route, I doubt it will affect the value of TT's version in its native market.

Yeah, I was one of the ones who bought Zardoz from TT, that was a massive order though...I think that was at the same time they did their big sale (which I grabbed three or four titles) and I also snagged a copy of their Journey to the Center of the Earth re-dux. My guess with Zardoz is the cult following blew through the first three thousand copies fairly easy, but then stopped once it got to 4 and 5. Cult following only carries so far.

I actually got the dvd from Netflix and watched it to make certain if I wanted a copy of the Twilight release. After watching it, I decided to save my 35 bucks. Totally bizarre movie. I can see why many like but I just found it to be too dull.

Re: The Official Twilight Time Blu-ray Thread
I thought TT was being a little optimistic with Zardoz. It doesn't help either that a label like Arrow comes out several times with the same movie only a few months later, that has without fail, trumped TT's release. It makes some people less trigger happy.
And region coding isn't hardly an obstacle anymore for the typical niche label buyer. Most people that throw $30 on a catalog movie already have a region free player.

Zardoz? I seem to recall that years ago the HTF had a studio rep from Fox that would post there and once asked them for a title to do a special edition for. All the members of the forum picked Zardoz, Fox put out the special edition, it tanked, and they never did anything like that again.
Was Twilight Time not aware of that?

Surely Fox didn't make them go for a run of 5,000 over their usual 3,000, though...? It's a spectacular disc, and I hope they do sell through eventually.

I set up my twilight time account on the official website so hopefully I can get my preorder in for Vampires next Wednesday. I found the TT Website, and the Screen Archives website, are they seperate companies and will one have more copies available than the other?

Why would Fox do that unless they had spent more on the licensing or thought that the title had more commercial potential?
