They really should re-enable the cart trick when there are fewer than 500 copies left. I saw a lot more discussion of certain discs when everyone could see the dwindling supply.

Also, my preorder of shit that came out last week still hasn't shipped - I understand if things can't ship immediately, but it's been more than a week now - what gives?

I have corresponded with them about this, and apparently it has to do with a couple of special deals recently (free autographed copies of BREAKING AWAY and THE PRIME OF MISS JEAN BRODIE) which they say are slowing them down. I just can't help but imagine there are maybe one or two people packing, labeling and shipping all of these orders. There should indeed be more efficiency, especially considering we are paying top dollar for shipping. If they want to ship for free, then I guess we'd have to develop a bit more patience...

Just order Journey To The Center Of Earth from Amazon for $49.99. They only have 4 left in stock and didn't want to take a chance that it's will be sold out.

You should cancel your order, they still have copies available on screenarchiveentertainment.com's site for $29.95 + S&H (meaning you can end up paying about $35 vs $50 for the title).

On the subject of NOTLD, did the HD master of the original ever get released on BD?

I guess it's the curse of the limited edition. If it doesn't sell out, they lose a bit, but if it does, there isn't any way to know how many more copies to shoot for so it winds up going for crazy aftermarket prices. Give the the current state of the disc market, I think they we're going to have to start getting used to this as the norm.

Synapse was asked about this, given their history with the film, and apparently the domestic rights are with The Weinstein Company at the moment.

The official transfer of the original NOTLD been released in other countries, with the Japanese Happinet version the one to get. I believe it goes for about $15 at CD Japan.

Absolutely outrageous for a garbage release, probably the worst TT has put out. Those who ask $94 for this terrible travesty of a Blu-ray should be greedily consumed by the living dead themselves.

Yeah. That DVD TWC released was pretty good. Looked good too from what I could see. But I'm not a pro on that one. I may be wrong on its visual quality.

Yes, this. Plus it comes in that super-cool smoke black Blu-Ray case.

In Japan, which is Region A. As mentioned above, it can usually be found for about $10-15 US after shipping from CDJapan (that's how I bought it, only cost me $13). The bonus materials mirror the two-disc set The Weinstein Company put out to promote Diary of the Dead.

However, with that being said, the HD master is "cropped" from the original negative (but has been "approved" by Romero). That might still make the Millennium Edition release from Elite to still be the "defensive" release of the film on home video to some.

Re: The Official Twilight Time Blu-ray Thread

Some scenes have been cropped, but I really don't think it's as bad as most people make it out to be. It seems most of it is just cropping tighter, not removing anything worthwhile.

John Carpenter's Vampires on BD in October!

I have the French version, so we'll see what this official version has. I'll most likely get it, because John Carpenter.

So I just read the news about John Carpenter's Vampires, and I have never had any experience buying a twilight time bluray. Will only a certain number of copies be available, is it thru their website only, will it sell out quickly and be OOP? Its one of my movies I have wanted to upgrade since it was one of the first dvds made, and looks pretty bad now.

This is the site. http://www2.screenarchives.com/displ...TWILIGHT-TIME/

Pre-orders for it will probably be early September, if I had to guess.

It's supposed to be 20 days before the street date, or in this case around the last week of September.

Happy for other people who found something here. For me the announcement was just another big bust- as have been the case with most announcements from most labels this year.
I might look into Fat City and Emperor at some point (like an anniversary sale), but there's nothing there I'll be rushing out to get.

I'm definitely in for Vampires. James Woods is awesome in it, haha. Might go for Ten to Midnight and Strange Invaders. Depends on how my finances are at that point.

I might get Vampires, though I am not as big on it as some others. It probably will sell out but I think Twilight Time will have a tough time moving 5000 units at their pricing. The Blu-ray market is changing and there are now several different niche labels pushing out horror catalog discs.

Have they said that this will be a 5000-unit release instead of the standard 3000? I didn't notice any mention of that.
