Re: The Official Twilight Time Blu-ray Thread

I have come to a realization a while back that is hard to be a fan of HK movies from the 70's to 90's as their movies are always treated; by either their original studios or North American distributors; as something inferior with the editing/cutting, language tracks and subtitles issues. The introduction of Blu-ray and being the same region as Asia has alleviated many of those concerns for the later release films of today.

Having said that, if TT is able to come up with a proper release for the Jackie Chan's movies, I'll pay the inflated prices that they charge.

Twilight Time should release A Bronx Tale and Raw Deal on Blu-ray for the U.S. buyers.

new news regarding this week's releases:

March 5
UPDATE for the March releases -- hi all, just a heads-up we have been advised by our East Coast-based replicators, Cinram, that owing to inclement weather conditions shipments of the new titles to SAE may be delayed, so consequently SAE's shipping dates to consumers will be pushed back. SAE will likely receive the new releases on a "staggered" basis, so consumers who have only ordered one or two titles will get theirs sent first - those that ordered all will be held up till everything is in. An additional note: Since THE BOUNTY required extensive music and audio restoration, it will be running approximately one week behind the others. Thanks."

Huh? You really want to shell out $35 a piece for them?

A Bronx Tale was a good underrated movie

I'm definitely buying MISSISSIPPI BURNING when it comes out. People forget what a good film that is, primarily because it got shot down by some critics for historical inaccuracies. But it's one of my favorite Hackman movies.

If Fox still controls Raw Deal, then I see that as a possibility. (Be nice to see that and Rapid Fire.)

A Bronx Tale was HBO, but looks to have moved over to Universal since, so I don't see Twilight Time getting that title.

I'd rather let Criterion or Kino Lorber handle my wishlist items before these guys anyday.

Some good acting from Gene Hackman, Willem Dafoe, Frances McDormand, Brad Dourif & Michael Rooker.

No argument from me. I just don't want to pay $35 for movies that never go on sale. The less TT handles, the better.

I remember watching that on ABC on a Sunday night during the old days when the broadcast networks would air theatrical movies and eventually caught it again on cable since the ABC version was edited.

Dafoe is awesome.

Me too. I pre-ordered around that same time and I see nothing other than "Pending" on the order status. Now it's the 14th. Do these guys usually get their orders out promptly? Looking forward to FMITM especially since I missed getting another of my stop motion favorites from this time period "Mysterious Island".

A Bronx Tale should be $9.99 or less if it ever gets released.

Midnight Run would be another good title if it never gets released by Universal.

Twilight Time ships out orders as soon as they receive the disks from the company that authors them. They posted this in on their facebook:

I see that Screen Archives now has that same info. posted on the news section of their web site. That's a hell of a "weather" delay. Most of us missed a day or two because of the snow & ice in the Northeast. They missed over a week? Sounds like a convenient excuse to me. Oh well. As long as they come eventually.

The Bounty better sound fucking awesome. This is the main reason why I want it, to hear the incredible Vangelis score.

I hope one of the premium cable channels repeats the Bounty since I taped it but had to erase it to clear space.

Excellent - Screen Archives Orde finally updated as "Shipped"! . Should have my "First Men In The Moon" Twilight Time shortly. Glad the delay wasn't any longer.

Yeah, my shipment (First Men in the Moon) spent 3 days traveling around Virginia, but they say delivery on Monday...we'll see.

This went up on the TT website yesterday. Could be promising. Last year's birthday sale discount was only about 10% (I think?), so hopefully they'll do a little better this year. These sales are pretty much the only time to get even a modest discount on their catalog.

March 23rd - TWILIGHT TIME turns 4 this week! Help us celebrate by participating in the very popular birthday promotion, which this year will commence on Wednesday, March 25th at 4 pm EST, and continue through 4 pm EST on Friday, April 3rd. Please check back in with us tomorrow at the usual time, 4pm EST, for the title list and pricing details. You asked for it to be bigger and better this year, and TT delivers with a wide variety of releases old and new — if you were looking to plug those gaps in your collection — this 4th birthday celebration is just the time and place.

Last time titles were $20. Only a fraction were included in sale. Seemed to be earlier releases that were slow movers, to decrease stock.

Do not buy the TT release of Oliver Stone's Heaven & Earth. Horrid, horrid transfer. Should not have been released in this condition.

Re: The Official Twilight Time Blu-ray Thread

There's a link on SA home page that takes you to facebook where the titles and prices are listed. Seems like everything but the most recent of releases. A minority are $25, the overwhelming majority are $20.

Just watched FMITM in the HT and it's like seeing it for the first time! Did an A/B comparison and it's almost night and day.

What a glorious picture great sound!
