Re: The Official Twilight Time Blu-ray Thread

They had it at the top of their main page in that splash section. I just looked again and they removed the language saying "less than 900 copies remain". You're right, they are probably just incredibly inefficient on how they run things. I'm glad studios are giving them titles...And I'm sure in a month or so after they "sell out" the title again, they'll have another "limited amount" available for those copies that were returned.

No one ever said there were only going to be 500 produced. Twilight Time announced yesterday that there were less than 500 copies left at SAE. There was also an e-mail sent later in the day that said there were less than 300. The website was then updated to reflect this info. That number was changed to 900 today and then removed completely at some point.

I think this is more likely a Screen Archives error than anything Twilight Time is deliberately orchestrating. SA has never struck me as a very efficiently run operation.
That's exactly what it seems like. The facebook post they made specifically said "SAE has reported that there are fewer than 500 copies of BODY DOUBLE remaining, and the limit is now one per customer." SAE (not TT) probably had some sort of clerical error and the gave TT incorrect info which they they disseminated to the public. SAE discovered the error and changed their website. It most likely was not TT's fault, but given the general attitude towards their business model and fans' frustration with fast sell-outs, it's definitely not the kind of mistake they want happening.

There's no longer a link to order Body Double.

I guess I'm glad I placed my order the other day, then, even though I think Body Double is lesser De Palma.

I received Body Double yesterday--barely had a chance to check it out, but the picture quality from what I've seen looks VERY nice. And I wasn't aware of it at the time, but in addition to the isolated score, it looks like TT added the featurettes from the SE DVD.

I love Harryhausen, but no way am I paying $30 a pop for the two lesser Sinbad films.

I remember the Royal Flash dvd was one of the first batch of DVDs I ever reviewed...really disliked that film.

Well, great. I received my copy of Body Double today and it's damaged. Since they are now sold out, I obviously can't exchange it. So now my only recourse is to get my $30 back and buy another copy on eBay for $100. Awesome.

I'm not sure whether they really have any copies in stock or not. They show it as not being available until the 13th. I went ahead and ordered one anyway, so hopefully I receive it and not a message saying that it's backordered or something.

They may keep a couple extra for events like this. Did you contact them? I heard people on another board that they sometimes had extra for damaged shipments.

I bought Hard Times and The Driver. Way overpriced for these films but seeing as how things are going for these types of films on BD. I'm "ok" with it for these 2 films. I was really impress by how much I liked Hard Times.

Received my copy of Body Double today, along with Zorba the Greek. Fortunately, neither were damaged.

I imagine if you receive it damaged, you can exchange it. They have to keep some on hand just in case. I would hope...

Anyway, I received my copy of Body Double last week on Wednesday. Wrote a review too if anybody wants to check it out.

They said fewer than 50 copies remained on that TCM link I posted the other day. The update was on FB and it was 4 hours ago.

FYI

do you get a shipping confirmation from TT? placed an order for Sexy Beast yesterday and just wondering about how long it will take to ship out...

SAE will send out a shipping confirmation e-mail. My most recent order took a week to ship (order placed 8/5, shipped 8/12), but that might have been because Body Double wasn't officially released until today. Of the 3 times I've ordered from them, I think this was the longest wait.

That gives me some hope. I ordered on 8/6 and my order still says pending.

Mine still says pending but it now just today it also says shipped with a tracking number.

I wonder how long it'll take. I live just about an hour from their location.

I was expecting a longer wait/receivement from TCM, but was surprised to see that it came yesterday. I better I like this movie sinc some De Palma is a tad eye ball rolling.

I received my copy of Body Double and was finally able to check it out. Generally speaking, I enjoyed the movie, but I definitely liked the first half better than the second half. For my money, it's no Blow Out. DePalma does know how to move a camera though. Visually speaking, the movie was a lot of fun. I'm eager to watch it again. I'm also eager to check out some of the other titles in the DePalma catalogue that I haven't seen (namely Dressed to Kill and Obsession).

So many titles I want (Drums Along the Mohawk! arghh!). but $29.99+ is prohibitively high for me. I"ve only bought one of their titles--Bite the Bullet. If they priced at $19.99 or even $22.99 I would probably have most of their Blu titles.
