Re: The Official Twilight Time Blu-ray Thread
For those that missed out, Screen Archives posted this:
"October 5 - We are receiving a number of inquiries from fans who missed out on NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD 1990 Blu-ray initially, and would now like to obtain a copy. A very limited amount of copies will be available again on October 26th, 4pm EST. These will be limited to 1 per customer, and to those who had not previously ordered one from us."

Re: The Official Twilight Time Blu-ray Thread
So, apparently someone over at the blu-ray.com forums contacted NOTLD 90 cinematographer Frank Prinzi about the recent BD release. Here's the relevant post:
So a few weeks ago I sent a message to Frank Prinzi (the cinematographer for NOTLD) asking for confirmation about whether he was consulted and essentially responsible for the blue tint. He finally responded to me today, and get this, he hasn't even seen the final transfer!
Quote:
Yes I was. How does it look? I havent seen it . I thought the Original DVD of this 1990 version was too bright and colorful.. I hope it was an improvement... thanks for watching fp
So he apparently gave Sony advice to make it darker because the previous releases were too bright, and I guess the crack team at Sony took that advice and interpreted it to mean crushing blacks and tinting things blue. I'm assuming the consultation was just done over the phone, or through writing and not in person. If so, then Sony is definitely responsible for how the movie looks. We can't conclude that it's approved by Prinzi at this time. I'll be responding to him shortly providing some links with pics of the transfer to see if he approves of the end result.

I've now seen firsthand (actually seen the Blu Ray of NOTLD on my professionally calibrated 67" Sammy DLP set) the abomination which Sony gave Twilight Time to release. My DVD copy looks *so* much better. The Blu is so artificial looking, I can't even begin to tell you how much detail is lost, even using the lousy 480i DVD source as my point of comparison. I actually almost cried at the blatant hatchet job Sony did to this "reimaging" of NOTLD.
