Yeah! And a black & white version of Rear Window.

Catalog titles sell so poorly overall that it wouldn't really be sound business for WB to release separate 2D and 3D versions. I'll wait until Strangers drops to $9.99, but will definitely pre-order Dial M.

That and the fact that it's a 3D movie.

Although, as noted, a 2D version will be included. It's not one of my favorite Hitchcocks, but I'm looking forward to finally watching it in 3-D - looks like they're taking the time to do it right.

I understand that it's a 3D movie, but having to pay almost double for something I will probably never have the hardware to play is a slight annoyance.

Are you similarly annoyed that the new Pearl Jam album is not available in a left-channel-only mono version for $5?

From HTF:

All of the DVD extras have been ported over for both discs. The release date for Strangers on a Train is also 10/9. There was also this welcome tidbit:
I really wish those were digibooks with much better cover art, but ultimately I'm happy to get both movies in high def.

I'm just impressed that WB is doing a classic catalog 3D title. Kiss Me Kate next?

The press release posted in the 3D thread mentions House Of Wax is next.

Hopefully they'll include Mystery of the Wax Museum in HD as well.

The I in Hitch would reference the knife in Psycho

Whenever I think of Hitchcock and knives, I'm reminded of this brilliant bit from Blackmail:

I assumed it referenced the Torn Curtain poster, since Psycho was already represented:

So happy that Dial M has finally been confirmed as a 3D release! I've been wanting to see that in 3D for so many years and never had the chance. That one will be mine! Agreed about the covers. They really are an embarrassment, but that's why I don't watch covers.

The Universal set looks amazing, too! This is turning out to be an amazing year for Blu-ray releases. Now I just need to hurry up and find a job so I can actually afford to buy a few of these when they come out ...

I think I'm going to hold off on those 2 Warner releases and wait for the eventual boxset.

Thrilled for Strangers on a Train. Thrilled, but somewhat cautious, about the big Universal box. Will wait for scuttlebutt on the video quality of those films.

Sweet! I can offset the cost of the movie by selling that piece of cardboard.

I have no inside information, so this is just a hunch...but if Warner Bros. was planning their own boxset, do you think they would've licensed North By Northwest to Universal? I would guess no. At least in the forseeable future. Unless of course they're planning on revisiting North By Northwest with a new edition (there is a segment of people who were very unhappy with that release despite the positive reviews).

Knowing Warner, i definitely see them releasing a boxset of Hitchcock sometime in the future.... there is no way they will sit on the rest of his films.
