The current release is pretty amazing, so a 100th anniversary would very much feel like double-dipping.

My steelbook of Lifeboat finally arrived from Eureka yesterday, and it looks absolutely gorgeous! I wasn't a big steelbook fan before, but these MoC releases are works of art.

Awesome! That's a straightahead port of the entire Alfred Hitchcock Masterpiece Collection. I desperately hope that's true.

The only one that would be a double dip for me is Psycho, and I only have Rear, Rope, Vertigo, Birds and Saboteur on DVD. Hopefully the pricing isn't too steep.

According to a supposed leak of Universal's release schedule, this is slated for September 4, 2012 but that sounds a little early to me.

I'm not upgrading very much of my collection these days, but that is one set for which I'd be happy to make an exception.

BBC article on BFI restorations - nothing about potential Blu-rays, but an interesting read.

The first of the BFI restorations, The Lodger, arrives on 9/24 in the UK, in a 3-disc set (presumably combo with soundtrack).

Hopefully Warner is going to release a BD version of their Signature Collection also. Just saw that Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Suspicion and Foreign Correspondent are part of that collection in the US box; unfortunately they were missing from the Dutch Signature Collection. The first two never have even gotten a Dutch DVD release.

Stoked! Hopefully this is true. It would mean I can replace my Dutch versions of the Hitchcock Masterpiece Collection (released as two box sets in the Netherlands), without having to hold on to them for one or two films that'd be missing from the new BD set.

However, Criterion DOES have the rights, so it's possible we'll have it on Blu from them soon.

Ah, that doesn't surprise me actually since, over here, it was released by Universal in a box that served as a follow-up to the two "Masterpiece" boxes. The box mostly included old work from the master. Did Universal have the rights to Foreign Correspondent after Warner lost them?

No U.S. listing yet, but the Hitchcock Masterpiece Collection (Universal) will be released on 10/1 in the UK.

Blu-ray.com link
Edit: There will also be a German set, with possibly different titles (39 Steps, North by Northwest?) included.

That means they dropped Shadow of a Doubt - the best Hitchcock - and Saboteur, if we compare it to the old Universal box. Makes me kind of sad, actually. Still stoked, however, and can't wait for it being released. Thanks for the post!

I don't know how much of that info is finalized, as to my knowledge Shadow and Saboteur are still in print, so omitting them from the set wouldn't make sense.

Omitting Shadow while they still own the rights to the film would be pretty ridiculous, since from what I heard it ranks pretty highly in Hitchcock's filmography (not that I've seen it).
